With rapid output speeds, robust document handling and finishing functions, and highly advanced communications capabilities, the new imageRUNNER 5570/6570 set new document management standards for mid- to large-sized workgroups in busy departments - the heart of "Corporate America." One of the most notable enhancements to these new imageRUNNER devices is the industry's first-ever Web access function, allowing for the use of the devices as "information kiosks" to access and print information directly from the Internet or a corporate intranet.
"In today's networked world, corporate departments need the right tools to keep pace with the speed of business on a global scale," said Sam Yoshida, director and general manager, Corporate Systems Division, Canon U.S.A. Imaging Systems Group. "Canon's ideal blend of high-volume productivity and efficiency go beyond traditional paper-based document production to support virtually every document creation, communication and management need.
"From high-speed scanning and local document storage to advanced finishing, electronic distribution, and Internet-ready capabilities, Canon is proving its dedication to delivering unmatched system performance and innovation," continued Yoshida. "Customers can take advantage of Canon's MEAP technology to customize system operability around unique company workflows - all while continuing to handle their daily production demands."
The new multifunction models incorporate a number of new enhancements that will clearly distinguish them among the most advanced products within their category, and empower users with the ability to capture, create, and communicate critical information more efficiently and effectively. Both the imageRUNNER 5570 and imageRUNNER 6570 models inherit the latest features and proven reliability of Canon's popular imageRUNNER line of products, while additionally incorporating a variety of new capabilities, including:
Enhanced Feature Set
The imageRUNNER 5570/6570 models feature Canon's third generation of its Image Platform architecture built around a custom processor with a standard complement of 512MB RAM and a 20GB Hard Disk Drive. This design raises the speed and efficiency of data processing, enabling simultaneous multitask processing, and advanced document manipulation and storage capabilities.
Offering advanced digital Copy and Mail Box capabilities as standard features, each model can be outfitted with optional Super G3 Fax(2) capabilities and network (TWAIN) scanning. Customers have a choice of two print controller options with the imageRUNNER 5570/6570, allowing them to configure each device as a network printer based on the unique needs of their own environment. In addition, the imageRUNNER 5570/6570 support a host of advanced document distribution capabilities via Canon's Universal Send option.
With Universal Send, documents can be scanned and "pushed" to other destinations electronically - distributing information to multiple destinations, including individual or groups of e-mail and Internet-Fax addresses, Super G3 Fax destinations (optional), internal Mail Boxes, network or host folders, and document management applications such as Canon imageWARE(3). Newly-added Universal Send capabilities also include a new URL Send feature, as well as optional PDF Encryption and PDF OCR (Optical Character Recognition) modes.
New Web Access Capability
As an upgrade to previous models, the imageRUNNER 5570/6570 models are "Internet-ready," providing tight integration with Web-based information systems - thanks to the industry's first-ever Web Access function implemented on the imageRUNNER 5570/6570.
Canon's Web Access option permits the new devices to double as data-access terminals, allowing users to call up Internet or intranet data on the color user-interface panel. This function supports information retrieval from on-site locations without the need for a PC, as well as the printing out of in-house administrative application forms and documents.
Meeting Device Access, Management and Security Demands
The imageRUNNER 5570/6570 models also offer a host of device access, management and security features designed to ease administrative burdens, control and monitor device usage, as well as protect vital corporate information. Management features include Canon NetSpot Suite and Remote UI utilities, as well as a new a Device Information Delivery function. User authentication capabilities include Department ID, Single Sign-on (SSO) and Simple Device Log-in (SDL) modes that provide device access to authorized users. In addition to their standard security enhancements, the models support an optional imageRUNNER Security Kit that provides Hard Drive Complete Erase, Data Encryption, to Job Log concealment features.
The imageRUNNER 5570/6570 systems go even further to provide device access to disabled users. Users can operate system functions from a laptop or desktop PC using the optional Remote Operator's Software Kit, which emulates the device control panel screens. In addition, visually impaired users can receive audible job confirmation of Copy functions through the optional Voice Guidance Kit (available 2H-2005).
Improved Reliability, Durability, and Document Handling Functionality
The imageRUNNER 5570/6570 devices deliver output at 55 pages-per-minute(4) (ppm) and 65ppm, respectively, with a quick 3.3 second first-copy-out time (FCOT). Both models support high-resolution output of up to 2,400 equivalent x 600 dpi(5).
Each model ships with a 100-sheet Document Feeder, standard automatic duplexing, and a paper capacity of 4,150 sheets that can be upgraded to support a maximum capacity of 7,650 sheets with optional accessories. The systems also support a wide variety of media including labels, transparencies, tab paper, and stocks up to 110lb. Index. Customers have a choice of two new finishers that provide extensive stacking capabilities, multi-position stapling, saddle-stitched booklet output, and optional hole punching.
The imageRUNNER 5570/6570 models leverage Canon's A-Si Amorphous Silicon Drum technology, which offers greater resilience to wear and tear than conventional photosensitive drums for exceptional durability and consistently high definition output. In addition, these systems employ Canon's new IH (Induction Heating) fusing technology - significantly reducing both warm-up time and overall energy consumption. High-yield supplies and consumables help customers reduce operating costs over millions of impressions.
The suggested retail price of the imageRUNNER 5570 is $17,000, and the imageRUNNER 6570 is $21,500. The device will be available in late April through authorized Canon U.S.A. dealers and Canon Business Solution locations
