Kresefski then went through a list of proposed cuts the district could make to lessen the deficit. If the district brought back all special education students from intermediate unit placements, it could save $300,000. It could save another $61,000 by utilizing substitute teachers from an outside service, rather than hiring substitutes. Another $25,000 could be saved by removing all district printers and utilizing copiers.

According to the district’s technology director, Kristin Swanson, the toner for the printers is expensive, and the copiers already in the buildings can act as printers.
