Amazon cracks down on work from home employees
The company instituted new policies in response to “Coffee Badging” trend
- This is where employees who are forced to come to office, show up in the morning, scan their ID, and stay long enough to grab a coffee or attend a meeting before heading home to continue working
- OwlLabs research shows that 58% of “hybrid” employees admitted to doing this
- New Amazon policy now requires a “minimum number of hours in office per day”, rather then just showing up briefly in the morning
- The company wants employees in office because “believe it will yield the best long term results for our customers, business and culture....and it has”
- “there is more energy, connection and collaboration”
- Workers who defy the directive “may be best placed to leave the company altogether”
- Those that refuse to come to office; “It’s probably not going to work out for you”
