Introduction of AirPrint for imageRUNNER ADVANCE C350iF/C250iF

Canon is pleased to announce the integration of Apple AirPrint™ mobile printing technology for the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C350iF/C250iF models.

Overview

Canon provides one of the broadest ranges of mobile printing technologies in the marketplace today, ranging from free mobile apps to server-based solutions that include robust cost accounting. Many customers however, desire a basic print solution native to their Apple iOS and Mac OS devices. In response to the needs of these customers Canon has started the process of adding Apple AirPrint support to imageRUNNER ADVANCE models. This will answer the need expressed by the market for even more flexible mobile print solutions for Canon’s award-winning imageRUNNER ADVANCE line.

Key Features and Benefits

Apple AirPrint is the native peer-to-peer, serverless mobile print technology embedded in all current Apple iOS products and the Mac OS. It provides a simple method of basic printing without the need to download a separate app.

AirPrint also allows users to print from most any native app of Apple iOS devices including emails, webpages, and photos. Many 3

rd party apps also support AirPrint as well.

Apple’s AirPrint technology provides the following print capabilities:

 Peer-to-peer wireless printing

 Print device selection

 Number of copies

 Simplex / Duplex mode

Note that the AirPrint architecture does not support entry of Dept. ID numbers. imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices using Dept. ID management for print tracking will not be able to use AirPrint.

Availability

AirPrint support is made available via a firmware update to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C350iF/C250iF. That firmware (V20.16) is available now via eSupport. Simply update the imageRUNNER device with the latest firmware and AirPrint support will be added. This new firmware will be added at the factory on a rolling basis. Note that enabling AirPrint requires adjustment of some settings on the MFP. Please consult Tech Pub TP14_335 for details on settings.

Canon will continue to bring AirPrint functionality to additional imageRUNNER ADVANCE models over time, and will inform Dealers as support is added. For the current list of Canon models with AirPrint support, please follow this link to the Apple website: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
