Has anyone heard when the airprint firmware will be released for the Metis (03 series)?

That's a really good question. I haven't heard anything about this, & the product has been out for a while now. Have you contacted your Ricoh SE?

ALSO THIS MATRIX WILL HELP IN DETERMINING MACHINES SUPPORTING AIRPRINT AS WELL
I have quit waiting and use the Lantronix xPrintserver. Works well if you take the time to configure it correctly.
The office version is less than $200 and can drive multiple devices.
AirPrint firmware is expected late april in EU afaik
There is a Ricoh ap available for apple and android. with the ricoh ap you can use ID codes, select B&W or cololur. It is quite simple to use and my customers seem to really like it.
In the app store just type in ricoh and it will come up.
The Smart Device Print&Scan app works pretty well for both iOS & Android and does give you some advanced functionality in terms of finishing, Locked Print and more. Some formatting does get screwed up, but I'm not sure if that's the fault of the app or not. I do hope AirPrint is approved for this series by Apple soon. Some customers are used to using that at home on their $100 printer and are somewhat annoyed that it won't work on their expensive business-class system.
One cool thing you can do with the Smart Device Print app(Android) is share things to the printer. Basically you open a picture or PDF or whatever print ready item and click on the share button the 3 connected dots in the shape of a v and then scroll down past facebook, e-mail etc to Smart Device Print and it connects and prints. Good way to do a mobile print app is take a picture of the customer by the machine and print it out. With practice you can do this very fast and its a nice stunt. Scan to the phone is cool too.
I don't think AirPrint will ever be available for the 03 series. I think it came down to Apple wanting too much and Ricoh deciding to do their own thing with Smart Device Print & Scan. We use the Lantronix xPrintserver and have had good success with it. It does suck that you can buy a printer for under $200 with wireless capability and some form of air printing whether it be Airprint or something from the manufacturer like send to an email address and it is printed and we're still a little behind. Things are catching up though. As for Airprint I don't think Ricoh and Apple are coming to any agreements soon.
A couple of hundred buckshttp://www.lantronix.com/it-ma...er/xprintserver.html
I recommend updating the firmware before install. Some drivers may not be available but I've had good luck with the Lantronix Color Generic PCLXL driver.
