I have a customer that is running 6-8K/mo b&w and 1K/mo color volumes on a 6513. They needed the 6513 at the time because of the quality prints (this was sold by a former sales rep). The problems we are having is that the system is eating up fuser & oil units and causing numerous other problems in the field.

The customer is using Office Depot paper, which has very ragged edges and a porous surface, to run their b&w volume on. My service dept. is telling me that the paper is causing most of the problems and that the 6513 wasn't made to do that much b&w volume compared to color because of the wet fuser system. Before I reach into my refurb pool and take the b&w volume off the 6513, I wanted to see if anybody has ran across this. I appreciate any input! Thanks

BULL!

The 6513 is also a 50PPM black print speed and 11 ppm color, the problem is the system is hard to service and maintain.

We have a few systems that are running a volume of 10K each.

However not to do combat with service, why not put a trial in for the a few months and see what happens, if the black volume is printing just give them a laser printer for a few months.

I must also say that we have lost 60% of our 6010 and 6513 installs due to our inability to keep them running well. Also when I have found these systems in the field from my competitor, I have found that they are having the same set of problems where there is a volume of 10K per month (it does not matter where the volume is, whether the color or black and white).

Hope this helps!

I have never heard of these issues. I have placed alot of the 6513's in heavy graphic enviornemtns and have not had any things like this.

Also, our company has a print shop where we have 2 hooked up to a TR micropress that runs probably 30 - 40k per month each on, and they have been running great.

I am interested to know how this pans out, could you keep us posted Brad?
I do concur with bmiller. As a certified tech that has worked with this model since it's release, I have found that you can PUNISH these units.Yes the fuser takes service, but with the oil system and silicon rollers it will. and it is a fairly easy fuser to work on. 70# exact matte is the everyday paper at one account.
The 6513 is a wonderful low maintanance box unless it is in a low volume enviroment. expect to replace hot rollers regularly. you can try removing the stripper fingers, they were originally put in to prevent 11 x 17 raps, when using less than 20lb. paper. the 6010 has no stripper fingers and it works fine.
This has been an issue for the longest time. I have had many with this type of an issue, which is attributed to just a bad placement. We have had graet luck with the newer fuser claws, and assembly. But, the best results came from switching to a better grade paper for when they run color prints. Standard 20# will be fine for thier b/w's, but dont forget that with color you will have 4 layers of toner on the paper. If the paper is not heavy (stiff) enough you will see the paper wrap the hot roller, which will dig the older style claws into the roller.
As for the oil leaking, welcome to Ricoh color.
