ACS, A Xerox Company, Helps the VA Move to Paperless Claims System
Oct 12, 2011 DALLAS -- ACS, A Xerox Company (NYSE: XRX), will help the Department of Veterans Affairs make it easier and faster for veterans to file disability claims and receive benefits.
Under a $54 million, three-year contract, ACS will convert the VA’s paper-based claims processing system into an electronic one. The new system will significantly reduce backlogs and more accurately process initial, increased benefits, pension and dependency claims.
Claims filed on paper or online will be put into an electronic workflow, making them easier to track and shortening the time needed for processing. ACS also will help veterans gather the medical records and supporting evidence needed to file a claim.
As the paperless claims process becomes available, ACS will lead an outreach program that encourages veterans to file claims online and to advise them on how to use the VA’s web portal.
“The VA has the honorable mission of providing important benefits to veterans. Our role is to provide services and technology that simplify and speed up access to these benefits,” said Joseph Doherty, executive vice president and chief operating officer, ACS Government Solutions. “When government agencies re-engineer their processes, it has an immediate, positive impact on the people they serve.”
The work will be performed at ACS’ facility in London, Ky.
