This message was posted by Lee on our old site. Could we hear from others as to how you handle the warranty on these printers. Please everyone speak up, we need to hear from everyone who reads this.

Art,
I attended a Nuts and Bolts meeting a while back and made a couple of notes about warranty on the 3800C.
The warranty to the dealer is actually for 450 days from date of purchase (I think this is the date that the dealer purchased it)
The warranty only covers the hardware that fails (boards, clutches, motors, basically)
There is a flat rate issued on every machine to cover the cost of warranty labor (about $125.00)
There is no warranty or yield guarantees on consummables
All of this is covered in Service News and Information Bulletin (SNI) #548, available for download from ROL.
There are some exception warranties available, but those are pretty hush-hush. There was a problem with the drums scratching and I think you can get those replaced or pro-rated.
I am going to study up on the way Konica is doing their printers and maybe get Brad involved in this discussion as well. I know he sat through a presentation from Konica about color yesterday. I think they have some specific yield guarantees in place on their printers and will credit back to the dealer any items that don't go the distance.
Thanks!
Lee
PS: How's your cellular reception up there??
