We have a customer that has bought several used Ricoh copiers from us. They asked us to look for a wide format copier to use in their office. Since we sell mostly Ricohs we found a nice used 240w at a wholesaler. I have worked on a few wide formats and just wanted to know how does the meter count work on these. Is it based on linear feet or meters, or is it square feet or meters. I have the service manual for the Ricoh and under PM list it states that certain parts(coronas, drum blade, dev, etc)should be replaced at 30k. What is the 30k ? Also what is expected drum life on one of these monsters. I'm just not sure how it's measuring. Does it tell you how it's measuring on the counter or do you have to check in the service mode? The wholesaler we're getting the machine from says it has 9k but he's not sure how it's measuring either.
Thanks

Yes, the 240W only counts Linear feet, and the manual says the drum and developer should go about 90,000 l.ft.
The corona wire goes 20-30k, drum blade about 40-50k, we regularly get over 100k on the drum, except for damage. There were a few drums 2-3 years ago that would give ghost image problems on large jobs (over 70 sheets). this happened when the drum was a couple years old, but only had 30k ft. Reprographic Technologies has a great drum that I think is superior to the OEM, and costs less too. It's about $750.
