240W Cutting Off PDF Print

There is a new 300DPI driver out from Ricoh that fixes this problem. There is also an updated driver for the 470W, it has the same issue.

Where do I find it??

I've noticed the same problem and was told that the reason for it cuting of the end 8 inches is because Acrobat does not support printing PDFs larger than C-size unless you have the full version of Acrobat, ie not just the Acrobat Reader, Atleast for the newer verions of reader.

Anyone know if there is truth to this?

It’s not an Acrobat reader issue. I printed D size PDF from reader after installing the 300 DPI WinPrint driver.

It IS a documented Reader issue - can send you the Adobe white paper if you want it. Larder than C size at higher than 400 dpi is not supported by Reader version 6.0. You can print at lower DPI (300 dpi driver) or you can downgrade your reader to versionh 5.0 or earlier to avaid this issue.

There’s no reason for the documents to be more than 300 DPI. File size increases and quality doesn’t increase. I use 200 DPI.

Absolutely true when scanning, but ususally this issue occurs when customer gets file from web site, or email, and it was created in another program (AutoCAD) and saved as a PDF. Unless person creating the file specifically chooses lower dpi, most Acrobat programs use 600 dpi as default.

Qucik fix for this issue - have customer use plotclient win to print PDF files (requires postscript option). They can also open the PDF with Reader 5.0 or 4.0 and use Win Print. Either way, D size PDF files will then print fine.

This may be a dumb question, but where do find the 300dpi winprint driver? It's not on the install sw and there are no downloads from Ricoh.

I STAND CORRECTED. Problem - 7” missing from “arch D” size prints using Adobe Reader. You need to use Adobe version 5.0 or lower. This Is an Adobe problem; the 300 DPI WinPrint drv doesn’t correct this problem. If the workstation has other versions of adobe, then, change the file type to version 5.0.

There is an updated PDF driver disc that can only be ordered through the Ricoh service dept that has and does infact cure this problem. If I remenber correctly it is 3.3 ver. Note the 240W I am refering to did have 'PS' print option installed.
