2090/2105 Finishing

We had a 2090/2105 launch yesterday. Some other enhancements...you can now assign simplex and duplex instructions in Batch Mode i.e. pages 1-20 simplex, 21-55 duplex, 56-100 simplex, etc. Also will now have 100 paper designate locations instead of 20.

Regarding the GBC Punch Unit...the retail be as much as $15,000 so it won't be a cheap add-on like the 3-hole punch is.

Going back to Atlanta in a week to go through Lanier's Week long High Volume, Color and Connectivity training. I will let you all know what more there is on the new 2090-2105 and what is upcoming for Color if they tell us!

WOW GBC unit $15,000!!!. I was told MSRP of $7000.00 and $835.00 per die. Ricoh will stock the 6 most common dies and others you could get from GBC. I wonder what the real price will be.

I never expected it to be a "cheap" add on but I hope It is less then 15,000.00

My understanding is that the purchase price would include all 5 dies which, now that I think about it, doesn't make much sense except possibly a P4P install where they might have occassion to do it all. Most locations will have one set thing that they do.

Anyway, it's all speculative at this point.

Are we talking about die cuts coming with the GBC, can you elaborate on this feature of the GBC?

I bet if you went to a GBC websight you will find more specifics about what GBC Binding is all about.

As Jim mentioned we are working with prelimanary data but... As I understand it you can purchase the dies seperatly. You can have 4 in the machine at any one time. Ricoh will stock 6 dies. THe 6 dies are what Jim said plus spiral, and a 3 hole Punch.

Art posted today a Press Release from Canon that included information on a Binding System soon to be available on their 110 and 150 that sounds like the same thing we will have. The Press Release said the Suggested Retail will be $8,000. It didn't say whether that included any dies.

The GBC termonolgy is fusion binding. I'll keep investigating.
