Can I set up 2045e to track user codes from each client when printing? Law firm wants to assign codes to accounts to charge back customers when printing. How do I do this?

First, the 2045e come standard with only 100 user codes. You need to add the User account enhance Kit 1045 to bring it up to a max of 500 codes. Second, you have to load the PCL5e or PCL6 drivers, not the RPCS. The PCL drivers allow you to change the code with each print job. The RPCS does not. You have to load all the codes into the machine or via the web browser, or SmartDeviceMonitor for Admin. Then setup the copier to only print/copy etc with codes. I wouldn't setup scanning to require codes, it becomes a pain. Also, make sure you setup an office code for general office printing or copying. That would leave you 499 for clients. Hope this helps.

You might want to investigate a third party software soultion like Equitrac Office. This would allow for greater automation and integration if they have a client billing software program.
Or Ricoh Print Cabinet.
