2045 Background

I have a 2045 scan/print/fax system that has around 85k on it, that suddenly started making prints with background over entire page. It makes background evenly over the page, even where it should have lead edge deletion. Almost looks like wrong toner, but I replaced dev and toner and still doing it. Any suggestions?

First thought is that the 2045 actually uses a new toner and developer system from the 1045, somewhere I heard that they were back to the 1045 toner and developer because the new mix was not right.

Can anyone else help?

Sound like the drum is bad or it is not getting enough charge. It is a write to black system. That means where ever some toner sticks to the drum the charge is lower than the white areas. It must be one of three things. Light get to the drum, drum not getting a good charge, or bad drum.

Cheat open the door and watch the patch develope. See if the drum has a backround on it when the patch is coming around. If it does it almost has to be charge roller or power pack if it happened suddenly. If it was more gradual it could be a bad drum but my money is on the first.

I have seen this happen many times with the solution being to replace both the drum and developer- making sure to run all of the proper sp mode. Another thing that helps with this problem it to clean the residential build up off of the mag roller with scotch pad.

Thanks guys, I replaced the drum and performed sp's and it seemed to take care of problem. I have never had to replace one of these drums this early before! Thanks again, Chris
