The technology Dixie State College has to offer is both diverse and prevalent. There are printers distributed throughout campus, WiFi connections in every building, and a large section of the bookstore dedicated to selling technological devices.
Recently the DSC IT department provided 20 Sharp scan/copy/printer machines across campus. These machines use the system already in place for prints and copies, and can be added by using a credit card on the printer balance site.
"Students don't realize that capability," Mary Stubbs, director of the IT department, said. "Anywhere there is a printer or a copier, they can print wirelessly."
Some students have no option but to use the campus computers and printers.
Shelby Cates, a freshman elementary education major from Enterprise, can't afford a computer or laptop so she does all of her schoolwork on campus computers.
"Living in the dorms, I use the library computers four to five times a day," Cates said
Most of the campus is wired in to large swaths of wifi connectivity. The RedStorm network is for students, while DSCGuest is for non-student guests on campus. DSCHotspot is another network availible for students.
In the Gardener Student Center there are four computers for use as well as a printer. This location is one of the most beneficial for students as it is centrally located.
Apart from the student center there are computers in the Udvar-Hazy, Gardener and Jennings buildings.
The library has many computers, as well as scanners and printers for student use. It also holds a large collection of dvds.
The college also has a wide variety of technology for sale. The bookstore sells devices like scanner wands, digital drawing pads and software for Mac's and PCs. For students, some software, such as the Microsoft Office suite, is priced at 20 percent of the original price.
