1045 SC 542

I have a recurring SC 542 code on a 1045, happens overnight, we get call in the morning. It has fax option and print. I have replaced thermistors and the heat roller. As a Ricoh veteran, I can certainly say that we seem to get a lot more fusing codes in the last 3 or 4 years than in the previous 15 years! Help! Thanks, Chris

Am not a tech, however I have seen this code on a few occassions. I believe our next step was to install a line condition monitor to monitor the flucuations of the eletricity going into the copier.

Am still checking, can anyone else help?

I'd definately make sure you have all firmware updated. You may also wish to install a power filter if one is not already installed....

Thanks guys, I replaced the upper fuser roller and it seems to be ok so far. We were using "non oem" parts at one time and we think this was a left over roller. This is why we now only use oem parts and toner. Any one else out there use "non oem" parts/toner? The savings are tempting to me, but I have had various "challenges" such as these fuser codes, that sway me towards oem.
