when you load the bypass tray it will auto recognize the paper in a pop-up menu, and if you look closely there is a section near the bottom where it shows what a media is defaulted and a button that says “change “. This is where you would program in the media wait. I believe it would be heavy six, if you hit the details button on that screen you will see it by GSM The varnish would be questionable. I’m thinking, try using the selection for “2nd side of printed media”

Re: Color MFP Trends, Tactics, etc
I would agree Art. However, Sharp may have been too bullish regarding how the Frontier line would take off. Back in May Sharp canceled five of the Frontier line's 18 models due to market conditions. Sharp no longer plans to launch DX or MX versions of a planned 50-ppm monochrome MFP and also canceled 31-ppm and 40-ppm color workgroup printers. I'm sure the economy didn't help, but it will be interesting to see how A4 MFPs fare in the 45ppm+ speed bands...

Hey Art, You can scan to Google Docs (now called Google Drive), Microsoft Exchange, Email, Shared Network, as per a regular imageRUNNER ADVANCE unit. Yes, you can get the booklet finisher on a 4225.

You can scan to Mailboxes (like Ricoh's document server, but better) and an Advanced Box as well (similar to dropbox). Anything else requires additional software.

Re: Canon U.S.A.'s imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4200 Series Brings Next Generation Platform to Midrange Black-and-White MFP Segment
From the Ricoh's I've played around with, you can see all of the file names in the document server, but require authentication to print/send the file. Canon's units can have up to 100 mailboxes that can be individually named. Files are then securely stored inside each mailbox so that non-authenticated users cannot see what's inside someone else's mailbox.

It's supposed to be built like Canon's iR400/500iF but color. It's not shipping until the middle of August but already has a pretty good hype to it. Price point is very favorable for an A4 color print device.

We sell the 400 and 500. They are solid mfp's. We have customers who run well over 10k a month on them and never seem to have any major issues.

Re: Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE 500i
Art: I've sold a few of them. Like Jason said, the iR ADVANCE 400iF and iR ADVANCE 500iF handle volumes well. But they are completely overpriced for the A4 market. Their predecessors, the iR 1740iF and iR 1750iF worked just as well and were half the cost... which means your cost is double for a fancy colour screen and Searchable PDF. Canon still makes the iR 1730iF which was never upgraded to the iR ADVANCE 300iF. It's one of their best B&W products in my opinion, especially for...

Czech is absolutely correct. Compared to the other systems from canon and the market they are overpriced. We have placed some of the 1750/40if's and they have been just as good or better than the 400/500.

Re: Need Help for Duplex, Staple Solution
Art, I know on many models you can set the PCL defaults (EX: Two Sided & Duplex). These will be ignored when you print form a PCL Driver because the Driver will over ride the defaults. But if they print from a host system the MFD PCL defaults will be used. The other thing you can propose,(Most Host Admins will hate the idea) is set up a Windows Print Driver on a Windows Server. make sure LPD is running and set the Printing Preferences (I also set the Printing Defaults) to DX & Staple...

Rules of thumb...sell nothing but the need for an appointment on a phone call or initial call. Also never "sell" during your fact-finding for several reasons: 1.) The fact-finding process gets interrupted or stopped. 2.) You come across like a dog salivating over fresh meat. 3.) You tip your hand and lose some of the thunder you will get from your proposal. 4.) You inspire additional questions and thought processes that the prospect will then discuss with competitors. read the rest in the...

Shorter Refresh Cycles, Good or Bad for dealers?
Wondering if shorter vendor refresh cycles are a challenge for dealers? I just saw that Canon is prepping for a new iR ADV refresh in Europe, which means it will likely come to the US, making Canon's annual refresh cycle a consistent trend for the past four years. Does the constant refresh of hardware on a yearly basis have a negative or any impact on dealers and the selling process? Thanks- Lisa
