Picking up a signed order in the morning for a Canon color with hole punch and staple, from an Amish farmer-printer. Best two parts of the qualification process was having to run samples of a digital plate to run his offset presses and ensuring the power was in spec to be run off of his diesel generator/alternator set up. RING binding is not a coil but it is plastic binder. If you look at the GBC option with the different dies you may get some idea. Ricoh's ring punch is only one type and it's installs the rings at the same time. It suppose to not slow up the machine. The binders are proprietary to Ricoh.

The RB5000 shows on the Ikon 6/2 pricelist. Remember that the SR5000 must also be configured. Personally I prefer the various GBC punch options AND GBC sell an offline version (tabletop) thouhgh the hole alignments are not the same as the RB5000.

I understand where you're coming from, I believe, you may be talking about the ability to actually delete up to 4 areas per document through the display. What I am speaking about regarding flexibility is to have 1 button on the home screen that does multiple steps like 3 hole punch, saddle stitch and pull covers with a custom watermark, with a picure of the user that requires these functions, or email destinations with the name of the recipieint and their custom file type as a 1 touch...

Is this really all the fuss about the Sharp GUI??? We've been able to do this for years with the Ricoh GUI (well not on the home screen, but in the program modes).

Sharp MFP's have been able to do that for years as well, 3 customized buttons on the main screen, the new UI will allow you to put up to 18 customized buttons on each page, with up to 15 pages available on the Home Screen, this can be done from the panel. You can also add buttons for any of the OSA connectors you may need, for example a connection to your Document Managment System, Fax Server or Cost Accounting application. Another thing was the small not so robust doc feed and how tall that unit is. How much does the doc feed hold? What size in the platen glass? Does the pages come out back to front or right to left? Platen glass is letter only doc feeder is 50 sheets "Auto Reversing Feeder" I beleive the docs insert image up, not sure though. 550 sheet paper trays Unit will stand fine with the wheels and lower paper deck unit, most of the new models are coming with these bottom supports now. The only information I have I got from P4P Hotel. Under the "Announcements" Topic, Ted has posted a Ricoh's Rollout Schedule for January-April 2003. In that it says the 1085 is being replaced with the 1090 and under "New Hardware Options" it says it will have GBC Online Punch, and choice of 6 replaceable customer diesets which I am guessing are the punch units.

Hi Graham, The Canon ir 6000 commission cost as of Mar 3 was: ir6000 $12625.00 Multi pdl $2103.00 Saddle Stitch Finisher $3410.00 LCT $1591.00 Punch $512 This is commission cost to the rep and when its connected it also has a $465.00 basic installation package for the connection fee. The multi pdl board is their print option. The ir5000 was about $50.00 per month less than the ir6000 in an account I was bidding against.

We are a Konica and Ricoh dealer and I am familiar with both products (moreso the Ricoh). They are both good machines, but the 1060 software is far better in most respects: Scanning Konica scans to the hard drive on the controller and then you retrieve it from the "box" with a piece of software called ScanTrip, 25.00 per seat. You have to know which box to pull the scan from. It's what I would call pull scanning. ScanTrip can be set to poll the machine periodicaly to see if there is anything...

Then again, this is a Minolta, which uses a Fiery controller. It has scan to FTP, scan to box on the Hard drive and Scan to Email. The website also says it can have a 2/3 hole punch. That's about all I can figure out from the Minolta website. Thanks! Lee

We had a 2090/2105 launch yesterday. Some other enhancements...you can now assign simplex and duplex instructions in Batch Mode i.e. pages 1-20 simplex, 21-55 duplex, 56-100 simplex, etc. Also will now have 100 paper designate locations instead of 20. Regarding the GBC Punch Unit...the retail be as much as $15,000 so it won't be a cheap add-on like the 3-hole punch is.

As Jim mentioned we are working with prelimanary data but... As I understand it you can purchase the dies seperatly. You can have 4 in the machine at any one time. Ricoh will stock 6 dies. THe 6 dies are what Jim said plus spiral, and a 3 hole Punch.

Art: The 8031 does have the IP711 Print controller option along with the Fiery X3e option. Prints up to 140lb index, 12x18 full bleed, scan-to-e:mail, Tiff, Jpeg and Pdf scanning. The most impressive items is the quality and the booklet making finisher w/saddle stitch(2-3 hole punch also!) My dealership doesn't have any CL7000CMF's in stock yet, so I can't really compare. Personally, the 8031 has much better quality than the 3800CMF, but hasn't been around long enough to test reliability!

Consider the strange scenarios we run into out there. There's a client with over 100 cases of three hole punch paper in their climate controlled warehouse that they want to go through before they use the hole punch kit. You never know... There are also strange people out there that no matter how much you show a benefit, won't spend $600 on the kit because they can drill the holes themselves. They just don't value their time, sometimes.

I have NEVER had good luck getting any machine to staple or punch using RPCS unless I am using it with SmartNet for Client using a SmartNet Port (Not a Standard TCP/IP Port). With PCL, it seems that I can get any machine to staple etc using standard TCP/IP Printing. There's my 2 cents worth! Graham

Answer No, it is not possible to hole punch (2- or 3-hole) booklets created the via the SK-1 Saddle Kit. Only two-point staple and crease fold are available as finishing options via the SK-1.

Rick: I posted a few items in reference to the GBS Stream Punch. I do not believe that Ricoh and GBC designed a new "punch mechanisium" for the stream puncher. I believe they took an existing product and manufactured a "skin" for it that would enable it to work with our 2105 and th 2090. I believe the GBC hardware is the magnapunch. Here is some interesting info. The saddle stich unit is identical the one sold by Canon and minolta/konica. But our spec are slightly differnt. For instance the canon can not have a 3 hole punch added. The kon/mon is speced for up to 24lb paper. We can do up to 34lb. Also on the Konica if you saddle stich anything larger the 8 1/2 by 11 then you can only set it for 25 sets or less.

Other than the standard one orginal and muli copies. Covers for quizzes and test, combine orginals ( 4 orginals duplex) or sporting events, plays,and employment apps. 3 Hole punch. Teachers around here loves that one. Another good one is scan to pc. All teachers have texts books for students and workbooks for them. Have teachers cut the binder off the workbook and scan to there pc. Than they can print only the pages they need plus have them 3 hole punch, staple and covers.

I just got back from the NYC portal launch of this and it does staple legal but it will not fold it. It does however have a hole punch. Canon has the same booklet finisher but does not have hole punch capabilities.

For those who don't have a PDA, you can use a USB Port memory stick or jump drive giving you the ability to view on their computer and save to their harddrive or print. My memory stick has PDF's of all of our brochures and video of things like the GBC Punch, SR90 BookletMaker, etc.

Amanda: What type of finishing?, do they need booklet making, more than 20 11 x 17's? Would they like to have spot color? Finishing options are available, however my first approach would be with two 90's with the finishers. You can sell the sizzle, that the systems will pretty much work unattended. They will have to fill and empty the paper, any printer would love to have the job run with out much labor involved and you can also sell the sizzle of direct print from the PC. If the finishing...

The scan he mentioned in the above post is just Twain scanning. In order to have scan to folder, desktop, etc, they would have to propose the ir5020i. The 5000i is discontinued. Our scanning solutions come with both types of scan solution, not just Twain. Their total cost for the whole deal is between 10,500 and 10,900. The print board, punch and paper deck were priced at dealer cost. They are using one of several dixcounts that Canon offers to go that low. You need to make sure that if...
