Katun introduces Arivia A3 MFPs for US Market

Art Post ·
I received the notification last week about the Katun press conference, though I had no idea what the press release was for. Throughout my 40-plus-year career, I’ve always known Katun as a reputable supplier of parts and supplies for our industry. About six to eight weeks ago, Kay Fernandez sent me a private message letting me know she had registered on our site as a member. Kay resigned from Konica Minolta this spring and has since joined Katun as the Vice President of Global Marketing.

In Canada, Toshiba offers dealerships with no quotas. This is popular with computer dealers looking for a commercial A3/A4 print line with recurring revenue. HP/ Brother have saturated the big box and online marketplace. Toshiba does not distribute it's products via these channels nor distributors. What once required a dealer to send a techncian at their expense to a techncial training course is now done all on line. Therefore, very small dealer friendly.

interesting about Toshiba and no quota in Canada. For me it seems there may be some opportunities for dealers that are not committed to a brand and is a true independent.

I did find out that Katun will only sell to dealers. In addition. I'm thinking the dealer would have to sign on as a Katun dealer in order to buy an sell the Arivia line. I would be curious to see the Ts and Cs for the dealer agreement as well.

Interesting and it seems Katun is "all in" on their MFP business. Also interesting was a few threads on Linkedin today when Quocirca posted the same press release. Most of the peeps that commented just don't get and why Katun saw an opportunity and moved on it.
