I would not sell the 5100 or 7140 without a Tameran stacker or finisher of some sort attached too it. Last year I sold a 7140 (the 14 D per minute) to a busy contracting office. First one I ever did. Delivered the machine with Ricoh's standard output attachments. I found out real quick that in the real world the Ricoh output attachments are useless. Checked out the new Xerox at a customer's site and this is what I found: Meter reading displays separate meter read for each roll. Need to slide doc feed forward and actually lift off the machine to clear jam in doc feed area. Originals are right justified to scan or copy versus centering like the 240W. table includes rear exit stacker - actusally catches paper and drops it to front of table at about ankle height.Table also handles cut sheet, one at a time. One / two roll feed tables can also be combined with paper cassette (up to 12 x 18). Paper cassette can NOT be sold without a roll feed. Upper original catch tray will be an option.

Maybe they are calling the exit area in the MFP a cave, because it is surrounded on at least two sides. The finisher then sits in the cave?

Ricoh SR 3290 Booklet Maker Question
The SR 3290 booklet maker is offer for the new IMC 4500 and 6000 series. I'm curious if this booklet maker has an internal stacking mechanism. Meaning that while one booklet is being ejecting the next booklet is being stacker so there is no close down with the print process. The SR3270 is not capable of this. BTW, the product launch documents are terrible for the new IMC series. Hoping anyone can help on this since Ricoh did a recent purge of marketing and product peeps.

The side-by-side that Mr. Copy posted was for the MP C4500 SPF, which includes fax. The revised attachment shows the MP C4500 for a more apples-to-apples comparison. Please note that copy/scan/print are all standard on the Ricoh, while scanning is optional on the Xerox.

Here's a few things I found on my own: Toner loads from the right rear of the system, thus if you're using a rear and the system is position to the side of the wall, you would have to disengage the stacker to replace toner. It's a shake and drop also for the toner, meaning you have to open the toner hopper, secure the cartridge to the hopper and then pat the cartridge so the toner falls in the hopper. I will be proposing two 5100's with total of 4 rolls, print/scan and one unit will have the Tameran Finisher, the other unit will have the stacker. This is a high volume engineering firm that requires redundancy. They are currently using two Kip 6000 units that are 7 years old and they cannot get software updates for. They are migrating to Windows 7 and there are not software updates that will support that.

I just received this email from JR in reference to my question. Sorry could not find a specific post so here is how I would attack the KIP, presumably the 3000, with the 240W.
