Hi Art, We once developed this for the IDEAL 8520 stapler but we can do that for every stapler of course.

That's correct, it was discontinued in lieu of the new MP 501SP & 601SP

If it helps, Canon A4 staplers are usually around $900 whole sale.

Re: All Ricoh A4 devices = no stapler
The 501/601 are based on a Kyocera MFP without a stapler, so Ricoh didn't have much of a choice on that one. Agreed that its a disadvantage against other A4s, so with Ricoh you will either have to sell the C401 with a finisher or an A3 MFP for the foreseeable future.

$650 on a B&W A4, $615 on a color A4. Ricoh is missing the boat one this one...

Re: Canon Production Question
While our Canon dealership sells neither product line, I'm pretty sure they're open to dealers. Canon's website shows a few dealers in our area for both the varioprint and imagepress models you listed.

Re: Are Copier Sales Reps Asking the Right Questions
As you said, this blog wasn't meant to cover all the bases but your comments about brand loyalty and brand/service provider loyalty are only true if the decision maker has been the same for each decision. If you aren't talking to the owner, you may be talking to a totally different person than the one that made past decisions. You need to know that before you decide whether to pack your bags and walk away. Also, in a leased equipment environment, the decision to stay with the same brand and...

CPP is very low for the AIO unit. This is a new engine, so overall service costs are estimates only at this time. Canon looks to have a winning combo on their hands. Where's Ricoh and KM in this segment?

Re: Canon's new 75PPM A4 MFP series
Ricoh has four black devices and none of them staple. MP 501SPF (52 ppm ) and the MP 601SPF which I believe is 62 ppm)

As much as I am not a fan of A4, but realizing it’s our necessary evil, I hope they do. The A4 has for the most part killed it for us as sales people. We have to sell many more units to make the same revenue....revenue, I say....profit margin is good for the most part, but we still have to sell more united to keep everyone happy. Was the worst thing a manufacturer could do in my opinion.

Re: Canon's new 75PPM A4 MFP series
This looks like it is just the Canon version of the HP engine they OEM for them so yes I would expect to see a colour one HP deployed thousands of M630’s (predecessor) at one of my customers doing big volumes - pretty robust Will be interesting to see how much longer the HP relationship with canon goes on..

Re: Canon imageRUNNER Advance C3535i questions
when you load the bypass tray it will auto recognize the paper in a pop-up menu, and if you look closely there is a section near the bottom where it shows what a media is defaulted and a button that says “change “. This is where you would program in the media wait. I believe it would be heavy six, if you hit the details button on that screen you will see it by GSM The varnish would be questionable. I’m thinking, try using the selection for “2nd side of printed media”

Re: Should you ever sell something for nothing?
I am just about....37 yrs young. Started with in 1993, SR year of high school part time servicing printers. After 2yrs of serving printers, married for 1 yr to my high school sweetheart I was envious of all the "copier reps" driving nice BMW's etc...I asked if I could start selling. When I first started selling in 1995 we carried Canon/Mita. I had an uncle who sold copiers and typewriters back in the early 70's and managed a large dealership in CA until his retirement in 1990. Re: Océ VarioPrint® 110
Starting MSRP for the VP 110 is $64,900. The new VP 110 - 135 series essentially serve the same role as Oce’s 106/120ppm VarioPrint 4100 series ($78,100 - $94,000 MSRPs) and the line will probably sell within the same MSRP range.

Larry....yes...the company would like to track a user with limited copies regardless of the copier being used. I know this can be done for EACH MFP but what about across a fleet? Looking for a total capture then once their limit is reached they cannot make another impression. Vince....I was waiting for you to Chime in. I would like this to work with Canon products including the VarioPrint 110. Maybe Uniflow could do this but I wonder if Enterprise Management Console will work with the...

The key for Minolta Dealers, is that the CF2001, CF 1501 are designed for end user involement. All consumables can be replaced by the end user with not tech involvement. Or they dealer could choose limited end user replacement or replacement only by a technican. The key is end user replacement, just like HP! From the Mind of Minolta: The labor cost based on End User capability to replace the TFU's. Dealers need to be encouraged to allow more customer involvment. Service advantage over our...
