Re: 57 Days of Selling "Day 44"

Jason H ·
Love it Art! I had a day of running around with a networking luncheon followed by a training for a new device that I sold earlier in the month and stole from Sharp. I was extremely late to the party with this deal but they already had a canon that was very old and decided they wanted another canon and on top of that wanted someone to deal with local over Sharp and Ricoh direct. Then I was walking into the grocery store on the way home and got a call from a person I quoted a machine to about...

GIntel ·
Agreed, Expanding direct sales was way at the top of Canon's priority list - especially after losing GIS,Danka,IKON. But without "Mega" dealers, this expansion was going to have to happen organically - which is hard. Ask the 8 CBS branches that opened this year without any clients or machines in the field. Given that Oce almost totally relied on direct sales. I would say that they easily have over 30 US sales branches. Maybe closer to 50. Those are both guesses though

$0.0135 for an all inclusive cpc is not enough by my math even with the $90 a quarter minimum. (That is unless they don't come close to the minimum) Keep in mind that the odds of you getting full yield out of the toner cartridges are slim to none. To my knowlege Ricoh is not guaraneeing the yield on the cartridges. I'm thinking $0.015 as a bare minimum and would prefer to see it closer to $0.02 I'm leaning towards an annual plan that does not include the consumables and discounting the ...

Unfortunately, due to the fact our 1055 does not offer scanning, we are at a disadvantage, but only on the surface. If you have rapport with the office manager and have not dug into their applications deeply, DO SO! I have been very successful with productivity chart comparisons when up against the competition with the same engine speed. By dropping down, you may be able to justify the 1045, and it may not be that much of a difference. For example, look for user walk up for single copies,...

You will certainly have a "personal" email list with a mixture of family, friends, former co-workers, networking pals and social acquaintances. Thanks for the link Art. The pricing listed in this post is SIGNIFICANTLY below cost on all the products listed above (C900, Finisher, PerfectBinder, RingBinder, etc). If this pricing post scares the competitors to Ricoh and helps drive down costs on competitive units for the p4p community ... then great. Realistically, no one will ever see that pricing on the street for a Ricoh c900. Why would Ricoh price themselves closer to the Xerox 700 or KM 6500 when on the productivity side the c900...

The only way this works is when you are doing a fleet replacement against aging HP's. There are a zillion 42XX HP's and even though they are cheap to run on 3rd party cartridges customer are looking for something new. We are seeing closer to .01 on the MP 401 and SP 4520 which opens up lots of possibilities. Put 20 of them on a lease, replace the whole fleet with a single model and end up with a TCO of .013 or so. Getting to a single invoice, supplies and contact is icing on the cake.

Ours escalate annually at 15% of the service payment. While I understand the need for this type of clause to hedge against cost increases from the manufacturers, gas prices and the like, think it has gotten out of hand. If a clause states that service may increase by up to 15% per year, that shouldn't mean "regardless of what the profitability is on your contract, we are going to increase it by 15% every year."
