Really hard to speculate on a business model which we don't know anything about. But the one thing that I do know is that - these idiots are everywhere..... Old Glory: I finally sold one last week!! About the begging and pleading for an A4. What I really wanted was an A4 black device and a system that had the same cpp model as our A3's. I see the current MPC 300/400 very hard to sell especially and they don't justify a cos per copy well when you are replacing an A3 device.

You all bring up some good points. Both the Ricoh MPC300/400 series and the Canon 1700 series are definitely are game chnagers. Being able to sell both helps. I thinkk Ricoh is really holding back on the SP5200 because of this Canon series. In a GP sales model a sales rep is in heaven selling these two untis. Don't get me wrong regarding revenue but GP based models is where it is at. I havent been impressed with some models from Canon lately, however, I think they have gotten it rigth with...

Good thought....but that would never happen. Most of the time in a stream of payment situation I take the number of months left and subtract 1 or 2 depending on the situation then I use that to base the buyout. That will knock down the buyout...especially when they are paying $300-$400 a month. This will make a big difference when figuring the lease. That can actually win the deal. The big wigs do not believe in the stream of payments and prefer to wait until the lease is up.....guess what...

What margin??? I think the spread between dealer cost and MSRP is about $400. For me to be comfortable giving the customer the level of support I give them on an MFP after the sale I would need to walk away with at least $350 in my commission check on the deal. That means I would need to charge at least $2,100 for the sale and installation of this product. That's why I don't pay much attention to small machines. Just can't make enough on them. I wind up giving more support after the sale on...

These require significantly less service/support than the Ricoh table-top machines. The opportunity to make money on these is by selling them to replace printers as part of an MPS engagement & making your money on the aftermarket. Also, if you're replacing an MP2000 machine, and the customer doesn't need 11 x 17, they would be thrilled with this machine, and you could make solid margin because of the price spread between the MP2000 and this unit. I'll be curious to see how the Ricoh...

What platform does the application run on (AS/400, Unix, Linux, Windows, etc.)? You mention the user is contemplating on transitioning to a dot matrix printer. I’m assuming the user is printing on blank laser paper and sending the entire print job (form and data) to the printer? Assuming the user carries out his idea of...

Art, you've got to look at it this way. there is almost no residual on a machine that is 5 years old these days. Most 5 year old digitals are junk. Would you sell an Aficio 400 or 500 now? They're only 5 years old. The machines on 3 or 4 year leases do have value. You and I are both selling used 550's and 650's. They still are decent machines. In a year or so, however, they too will be basically junk. So from the leasing company's view, a 5 year FMV lease is a write off when they get it...

$3.51 for regular, I've been keeping a good account of mileage, it seems I'm averaging 1,600 miles a month. My car averages 22 miles per gallon, thus I need 72.2 gallons of gas per month. Total at $3.69 per gallon is $268.36 per month for gas! Cell phone is about $120 per month, used mainly for business, thus I'm at $388.36 and then an additional $50 per month for tolls which would top me out at $438.36 per month. Add in oil change every two months at $30 (15 per month), tires every 30...

What I have been doing is not leading with this machine, I am leading with traditional A3 systems. When I get an objection, whether competition or price, I then ask the user if 11x17 is really needed to copy, print or scan. In most cases the answer is NO, from there I proceed to tell the story about how A4...

It's Ricoh's own low end embedded controller. Fits all 400 DPI + units (JP4500 5500 8500). Although a GDI controller only, it really pumps out some good quality. It especially enhances the quality inherrent by using new HQ micropore master on the 4500. Really very nice. Built in NIC and parallel. Easy to install and very stable. Higly recommend over any ZipRip, unless PS is required.

In the Scan to Folder/e-mail, full color selection, 600-dpi and 11 x 17 are not selectable. If your customer would like to use 600-dpi resolution, then they will have to use the TWAIN driver and set the color/gradations settings in the driver to 8 color. Otherwise the maximum resolution is 400-dpi using the Scan to Folder/e-mail function.
