Re: A Couple of True & Not So True Humerous Copier Incidents
On a cold call I stopped in at a doctors office. The Office Manager was so glad to see me. She said that she was having fax issues and every time they received a fax it jammed. I told her I wasn't a tech but I would take a look. She escorted me to the fax and I looked down to see some questionably cheap paper. I simply asked if she had tried changing paper. She said "I don't have any control of the paper the hospital sends when they fax me." OooooK. She obviously didn't understand the...

Re: Ricoh Copy Output Tray for MP 9002
5 hours today spend on finding these trays. Yes, I finally found them. Seems Ricoh USA was the only one to discontinue these trays. After searching the internet again I then resorted to calling a contact in the Netherlands and South Africa. These out put trays are available through Ricoh Europe, thus if you need one please PM or email me and I can get you the contact person. Art

Re: Ricoh Copy Output Tray for MP 9002
Another route you can take with these discontinued options is to order the parts through service. For instance the product code for this one is B756 so if you were to go to rfg-esource and search for the product code there is a parts book for the copy tray option and you (service) can order the parts. I have needed to do this with things like fax options.

Re: Ricoh Copy Output Tray for MP 9002
@msaeger that's a great idea also. We tried that first and could not be ordered. in addition I found that the out put tray for the C6503 is similar in size and heard that it will work. Have someone checking to see if they are available.

Re: Ricoh Copy Output Tray for MP 9002
When you say you tried to order it do you mean the edp code for the option or the part number? Like the part number for the tray is AF043112.

Re: Ricoh Copy Output Tray for MP 9002
@msaeger someone on our service team tried to order with the part number is what I heard

Re: Ricoh Copy Output Tray for MP 9002
Wow that is surprising. I mean they need to provide replacement parts what do they expect someone to do if one was sold and gets broken. Good luck! I hope you find a solution.

Re: Ricoh Copy Output Tray for MP 9002
Yup agreed. I'm working with Copier Solution Shop in the Netherlands for a third party replacement. In addition for right Ricoh Europe is still offering these. I have a contact and can get more. Thinking sooner or later they will run out also

Re: Your Copiers Are Storing Confidential Information: What You Can Do About It
Question on this - do any of you that sell Lexmark get questioned about the ultimate ownership of the Chinese government? If so, what is it that you say to get them comfortable that they're safe?

Re: Your Copiers Are Storing Confidential Information: What You Can Do About It
We are still a dealer but we have not sold a LEXMARK in quite a while. They eliminated the MPS Elite program we were own, or at the least removed us from that program. I never had anyone ask about the security due to the Chinese ownership but it’s a great point. Honestly, I have found their support, to us at least, to be very subpar. Our support from brother has been phenomenal the last 2 years. Most of my printer clients are replacing the lexmarks with the brothers as fast as they can.

Taking a deeper dive, knowing that the U.S. DoD Inspector General recommends adding Lexmark to the banned list with Huawei (Lenovo and GoPro also), does that make you uncomfortable when pitching a Lexmark unit?

Re: Those Magnificent Men and Their Copy Machines
Almost three years ago, I wrote the above blog. I want to do a 2015 version. Please either post here or go to the forums and write a short paragraph about how your company is giving back to the community so that we can post the 2015 version of "Those Magnificent Men (Women) and Their Copy Machines". It would be great to see how we all contribute. Please post below. I re-posted the older version on the blog tonight also. Here is the link for the forums.

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: Is selling at cost the future for print hardware?
Without a value statement that goes beyond copiers and even mps at this point --- people will be selling at cost, because they are transient, non-professional, and either don't have or have confidence in their skill set. The Trick is to work with companies that aren't in the market to buy copiers---I guarantee that their are other challenges that they are facing and trying to overcome...When you do this you can sell at retail, because there is no competition and you earned that commission.

The hunger site has a similar site http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com where they donate free food to animal shelters just for you visiting the site and allows you additional methods to give. Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY
I have seen statements on return forms from lease companies that state that the leasee is responsible for securing data that may be on the HDD. Regarding the show, CBS producers get paid to make reports for "good TV". I heard about this HDD concern a few weeks ago in an early morning "tip" from Clark Howard on CNN a few weeks ago. I Googled it at the time and found a print article. I think that the concern is valid but I think that it probably the hard way to find personal information. As...

We are currently seeing a correction in the market. What we sold for $15,000 three years ago we are now selling systems of equivalent value for less than a third. The market is largely oblivious to the selling features that used to give the higher priced systems their value. They didn't need the features to begin with. We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg..... New channels of distribution for enterprise print delivery, channels that tend to work off less robust margins than copier...

Re: OKI Data and Toshiba Tec Agree to Joint Development of Multifunction Printers
Rumors have swirled for years on Toshiba's exit of the MFP industry. Inspite..... of their recent and aggressive dealer acquisitions. Neither entity is strong enough to stand on its on. Especially due to the consolidation the industry has already seen. Ricoh/Ikon, Canon/OCE, Konica/Minolta, etc. I agree that both have been low price leaders in the US market as well, and the marriage is a good one. This is the start of Toshiba's exit, and eventual sale to Oki Data. Oki Data just didnt have...

FYI. To be technical, Windows 8 introduces SMB V3, improving security features among other things. http://www.windowsecurity.com/...SMB-Connections.html Although supposedly backwards compatible with SMB V1 & V2 found on most current MFPs, the transition is not quite as seamless as Microsoft hoped for. SMB V3 will likely require firmware updates from all of the copier manufacturers to be compatible. I have no idea on the Universal Print drivers until you try them. It is only a short time...

Re: Gas Price Check
The Theory in general is that the large U.S. Companies sacrifice their profits (which can be determined by looking at the price of a barrel of crude vs. the price of a gallon of gas) around elections when they are wanting the existing party to stay in power. The price of crude may also fall some, but the amount that the price of gas at the pump drops is significantly higher than can be attributed to the slight decline in crude. As far as it being "near the election" I'd say it is very near...

Re: Sales Tips
Rules of thumb...sell nothing but the need for an appointment on a phone call or initial call. Also never "sell" during your fact-finding for several reasons: 1.) The fact-finding process gets interrupted or stopped. 2.) You come across like a dog salivating over fresh meat. 3.) You tip your hand and lose some of the thunder you will get from your proposal. 4.) You inspire additional questions and thought processes that the prospect will then discuss with competitors. 5.) You may be...

Re: Email from Canon P4P'er "Ricoh Direct Pricing"
It is sad that Ricoh has laid open the market and is allowing the direct reps to compete in current RFG business. The direct operation for Konica Minolta has been put on notice that if they walk into a current KM customer, then they are to turn around and walk out the door. That's from tRick Taylor himself. That doesn't mean if you're a duel line dealer and have non Konica Minolta equipment in there, then it's fair game, but KM is trying to protect its dealer side.

The problems I wrote about on this board were the mere TIP of the iceberg. When I think about the times it took me more than an hour to input a simple one-machine order because of that blasted !@#$!%^^&* Oracle system crashing...!!! Sure, the implementation is the source of the problem, but who guided the implementation? Surely Ricoh didn't do it on its own. Then, who didn't fix anything when their system wasn't working?
