John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

Re: Smart Operations Panel
Old Glory, we're in the same boat. I think if they haven't had a Ricoh system then it might be worthwhile to try to start them with the new stuff but I have to first retrain myself. I do like the Quick Copy widget and I think that might be a good way to introduce it to existing customers. I'd be interested to see what people who have never been exposed to the classic method find more user friendly.

Re: Canon imageRUNNER Advance C3535i questions
when you load the bypass tray it will auto recognize the paper in a pop-up menu, and if you look closely there is a section near the bottom where it shows what a media is defaulted and a button that says “change “. This is where you would program in the media wait. I believe it would be heavy six, if you hit the details button on that screen you will see it by GSM The varnish would be questionable. I’m thinking, try using the selection for “2nd side of printed media”

Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY
Art, this is a serious issue. This is no different than hard drives in our computers, laptops, netbooks or anything that uses a HD. They are all storing electronic digital magnetic information. Those that have encryption are not safe if you know what you are doing. These encrypted containers can easily be tapped and opened. If you don't believe me do a little research on computer forensics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_forensics This has been an interest of mine that is quite...

Re: Are you a Data Miner?
If Email marketing is successful for 0.0067% of the emails that I send I will be happy. Yes, I expect many emails will be shot down as spam. Just the very process of data mining has already identified 50 companies that I did not know about and never touched. Data mining helps to identify the players in an organization and the corporate structure. To be able to cold call an account and ask to see a specific individual is helpful. I asked a question on a popular Copier tech website about selling SaaS in lieu of a traditional “hardware + software + service contract managed by a local technician”. The response was: Re: SaaS (Software as a Service) If you're selling it to them, they will look to you for all support issues on it. Often I've found cloud services still to be much more hype than anything else. There are plenty of instances of outages even by Amazon and other firms handling these services. I'd much rather...

In relation to the deletion of data I have found the following tool to be effective: http://eraser.heidi.ie/ I imagine all of us could imagine interesting tests to prove the effectiveness of both products above. Primarly, run recovery on disk with ontrack and see if you get anything. Secondary "fry" the disk with Eraser (some heavy duty erasure method) and then try to...

Re: Printing from Word Perfect
From: Graham Sent: 9/19/2002 8:45 AM You'll notice with that method that when they are printing multiple copies, if you watch the printer spool, WP will send the entire document for each copy. IE: if you have a 3 page document that you are printing 50 times, it will send 150 pages to the printer. Printing out of word, it sends 3 pages to the printer and doesn't tie up your PC or hurt your network traffic.

From RIP Easiest method is to have them set it up on 8½x11 paper in their application, set 8½x11 paper in the tray, cut master, then just put evelopes in and print. From Glass Easiest method is to turn off auto paper size detection before making master, or set 8½x11 paper in the tray, cut master, then just put evelopes in and print. ANy other suggestions Art? If the CD doesnt autorun or you want to add the drivers manually> use the ADD PRINTER WIZARD, choose Have Disk and Browse> Drill down to the driver you want until you see a .inf. Then click OK. Art: A) I understand about the pump priming method, however it seems like this is assuming the customer was not going to print any color if we didn't give it away to begin with. That is a HUGE assumption. I don't completely get your math. It seems like you're saying a 1500 volume would yield a big profit. If you look at the table below, assuming that color costs 5 cents to make and the customer pays 9.5 cents for the overages, you only make $20 a unit in profit at 1500 per month. If you...

Re: Sales Tips
What if you could actually be more successful without selling? Until now, nearly everyone and everything that you've heard or read about marketing has been aimed at hiding your valuable money-making secret from you. They've been demonstrating the worst possible way for you to get business -- and suggesting (or insisting) you follow their lead. They've told you to sell, sell, sell... advertise again and again... push hard... and then get up the next day and do it all over again! Why? Because...

Re: Ricoh 2035 vs Mita 4035
Just wanted to let you know Merlin is not me, even though the moniker sounds like my real first name. I too am from Falconer NY, but my method of expression is different than Merlin. I'm a techie, and from my viewpoint, I find some features of the Mita a little cumbersome. Reliability seems to be much better than the Ricoh, although 3 years isn't long enough to get an overall picture. Ricoh machines used to have "strong" assemblies but the later models have been "flimsyized". Kyocera/Mita...

You can scan to Mailboxes (like Ricoh's document server, but better) and an Advanced Box as well (similar to dropbox). Anything else requires additional software.

Re: Canon U.S.A.'s imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4200 Series Brings Next Generation Platform to Midrange Black-and-White MFP Segment
From the Ricoh's I've played around with, you can see all of the file names in the document server, but require authentication to print/send the file. Canon's units can have up to 100 mailboxes that can be individually named. Files are then securely stored inside each mailbox so that non-authenticated users cannot see what's inside someone else's mailbox.

I have another tip I'd like to pass along. For some unknown reason, Oracle changed everyone's freight payment method to Collect. I don't know about you, but we find it pretty irritating having to drop what we're doing and immediately cut the carrier's driver a check. Be sure to specify exactly - wholesale, DMAP, supplies, parts, anything and everything that Ricoh ships out...

Re: Secret code 'traces copies'
Yes, the code reveals the unit's serial number, and yes this has been around for years. (I remember learning about it in about 1992). At the time I was told that the Goverment threatened to ban the sale of color copiers in the US (counterfeit concerns) unless Canon developed a method to track the serial number of each machine in each copy. This is also why most color machines will not make a copy if they cannot detect their own serial number.

Art, Maybe a bit late, but the units are defaulted to detect development count as the default. Service mode 5-046 can be used to change the counter method to page count. As for @Remote, I'd think it may be dependent on the SP5-046 setting, however, I am not entirely sure. I'm certain you may be able to check the @Remote launch documentation for clarification....
