I was on the MPSA call today. Here's some points of interest I was going to post on another thread but will put it here for everyone. One major MPS company reported 29% decline in pages or revenue Another major MPS company reported a 71% decline Healthcare for one of those clients saw a 40% increase More inquires from clients in respect to file sharing and content Expecting continuing decline for another 30 days in revenue and prints First week of April they hit bottom and has stayed that...

Re: Will outside Sales Rep's go away?
Monte I don't believe you are paranoid! The ecommerce is a real threat for sales peeps. In order to over come that we as sales peeps will need to wear additional hats to better serve out clients. Those as a trusted adviser, become more knowledgeable with cloud services, IT services, MSP, MSSP. It's my belief that we will evolve from just print to be able to consult on all aspects of business office. I would love to hear from others on this as well, this is a great subject for discussion.

Art, I call Bull ****! At least for our industry, the copier industry! This may be true of a commodity (like envelopes, or coffee, or even a PC) but copiers, really MFDs require a lot of attention, both before and after a customer buys it. This article seems to be written by an old brick & mortar company that successfully transitioned to internet sales. This will work for any company that drop ships their products. And I agree that the MFD manufacturers would LOVE for this to be, or...

Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days
I, for one, don't care much what Ricoh thinks about my selling options. Tariffs also have a way of redirecting business decisions. China may sease to be a viable place for manufacturing. No manufacturer has 100% of their maunfacturing being done in China. No matter what, the effect of any tariffs will be watered down by whatever manufacturing that is being done elsewhere. I would really love to see something that tells what % of manufacturing is being done in China broken down by...

Re: Is This the Beginning of the End for the Padding of Lease Rates?
This bill may not apply to Fair Market Value leases. There is no mention of establishing the residual value of the asset which makes the interest rate impossible to calculate. Is a .0278 rate on a 36 month FMV truly -0- interest? Of course not. If you don't end up with title to the equipment, you really haven't financed anything. What is the interest rate on a Hertz Car Rental? What is the difference between that an a 36 mth FMV other then the length of term?

So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: "Green Jobs"
It's hard to place an accurate count on the number of trees we lose over a span of time because of the size of the number. Easier to track the loss of areas designated as forests since that highlights the biggest change, usually from nearly 100% of the surface area covered by trees to nearly 0%. The number of trees in a forested acre obviously varies wildly (from about 200 to well over 1,000 per acre), but let's use 500 to start. 500 trees per acre would equal 44 billion trees lost over the...

Re: KM Promo
This is just another marketing sales tool. What there are not showing is the buyout at the lease end. It is always a FMV. KM is using there own leasing arm. If you use a lease factor of .0278 this will show you a 0% interest. We have in state government accounts, what is call a deferred payment lease. This is the state price divided by 36 months. 0 interest, 0 down, 0 buyout at the lease end. But the sell price is fixed.

Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY
Well... Here's the deal. There are two levels of "Format". The most common "quick" format does not actually delete the data, it just forgets where the data is. That data can then be recovered by readily available software. A "low level" format actually writes over the data. Formatting a HDD a single time this way "effectively" destroys the data. The problem arises due to the fact that all this "writing" is actually placing + and - charges onto a metallic disk to represent 0 and 1. Even...

Just take a look at www.udocx.com or at our blog http://blog.udocx.com (you can find an articel about the security issue there as well). If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.

In order for the kill switch to be used, the country would have to already be in total rebellion. No politician is going to throw a switch that costs the U.S. GDP billions a day except in the face of armed uprising.

They will eventually, and naturally, look to cloud solutions for their print needs as well. Here is a fresh story driving home this point. I suggest reading the comments...

The demo and product were great. I have some questions about latency with on-premise SharePoint and Exchange. I would think UDOCX would access to both from the Internet which means users would have to configure their sites for external access. Obviously with a complete cloud solution using Office 365/BPOS this is not an issue. I just attended a Microsoft event for Office 365 and it is quite an improvement over BPOS.

Basically your phone is sending the file to a PC or server that is running google chrome and is signed into your google account. You'd need to install and set up chrome on said PC/server as well as the cloud printing service and then download a. Cloud print app on your phone or tablet. Re: Google Cloud Print Opens Access to Printers Across the Globe
The MFP is already connected to the internet. The Cloud Print client for the PC connected to the MFP identifies the printers that are connected to that PC. As long as that PC is online, running Chrome & you are logged in to your Google account, you can select the document you want to print from the Cloud Print app on your mobile device, select the settings (this is still in beta), and it will send the print job to the printer to which you choose to print. That PC is essentially acting as...

I think we all need to wait until we see the details. If this is a carryover from IKON (maybe an IKON rep can chime in) this is not anything like what we do when we "recondition" a machine for resale. These are actually reconditioned, repainted, etc. to the point that they qualify for a -0- meter again. Probably still too pricy for my company to ever buy one but I don't think we are talking about the same thing.
