Which episode did you comment that everybody is trying to sell Document Mgt systems these days and why you think that is not the best idea? BTW, I purchased some eLearn courses on www.selltowin.com because of one of your SAT AM episodes. Thanks,

I am just about....37 yrs young. Started with in 1993, SR year of high school part time servicing printers. After 2yrs of serving printers, married for 1 yr to my high school sweetheart I was envious of all the "copier reps" driving nice BMW's etc...I asked if I could start selling. When I first started selling in 1995 we carried Canon/Mita. I had an uncle who sold copiers and typewriters back in the early 70's and managed a large dealership in CA until his retirement in 1990. When I went to...

Re: Ricoh unveils space-saving A4 multi-functional printers for offices and workgroups

Jrlz ·
I think Ricoh waited so long to release an A4 system like this for the fear of what it will do to the A3 business. I know my Sr. Management is concerened that reps will start selling A4 systems to replace existing A3 systems and drive revenue down. The perfect spot as everyone has pointed out is in the MPS world. This product will do well to knowck out the HP, Lexmarks, etc... I wish we had it sooner.

Re: Scan Router Lite and XP

Graham ·
From: Jay Sent: 9/6/2002 6:21 AM I think that is correct for W2K also. Maybe all operating systems. If you want to route a scan to a network folder you must configure the path in the SR Link client properties, and it must be running on the client machine. It can not be done using the Admin Utility.

From: Ted Sent: 9/6/2002 7:27 AM On Wind95, 98, & Me, I have been able to route scans to a folder on the network without using SR Link. I do it through the SR Admin. program. The only time I install SR Link is if they need scans to go to an individual's PC. I have set up three different Scanners at three locations this week. I have not tried XP yet however. Two of them were Win2000. I did not run into any problems. I do have a question though. Every time the PC that has the SR Admin.

From: Ted Sent: 9/6/2002 9:10 AM Is there a way to change to "Run as Service" after you have the SR Admin. Program loaded? Also, SR Link in the Start up is a MUST. 99% of my problems with people not getting scans were because they forgot to turn SR Link on. Now there is no problem. Also, you sure have a lot of Security and Privacy in Idaho. No wonder the wacked out Militia Groups are in that part of the country. They have a reason!

From: Ted Sent: 9/9/2002 8:10 AM I guess I spoke too soon on Friday. One of my SR installs is screwing up. This is the first one to do this. The SR Admin is on a Win2000 NT Server. We set up one Save as Windows File on this server. Then we set up 7 workstations with SR Link. This was all done on Thursday. All of the PC's saw the Delivery Server when we set it up, and they scanned fine on Thursday & Friday. This morning, none of the PC's using SR Link can find the Delivery Server. They...

I didn't know that the day after I installed the SR Admin. program and loaded the PC's up that the machine thru a service code. When the guy went out there to fix it he decided to upgrade the Firmware on the machine while he was there. Needless to say, we unloaded the SR Admin. Program and reloaded and...nothing. Re: Can Scan Router Lite do an FTP push as a pdf?

Lee ·
I can take SR Lite and put the document in a folder on a hard drive somewhere (anywhere) on the local network. FTP (which you can't do with SR) would be able to send it anywhere on the local network or WAN based upon an IP Address. Using FTP, you could send the scan overseas if you wanted to. Most network admins shy away from FTP as much as possible and seem to like the scanrouter setup much better. FTP is considered a security risk on the network. We also sell Konica, which is big on FTP...

Re: Scan Router Question

Lee ·
There are a couple of settings in the machine: First, go to service programs and set service program 5974 to 1. This tells the machine that you have the Pro version. Power cycle the machine and you should now have some more options in user tools, system settings under file transfer I think. One of those settings will tell it to forward faxes with a subcode to SR Pro. Sorry I can't be a bit more specific. Hope this helps and let me know if you need further assistance! Thanks! Re: Doc Server Scan Router

Lee ·
There's no way to name the file, but there is a way to kind of workaround it: You can define some of your senders as job types, for example, create a sender named Purchase Order. When you select that as a sender, your filename becomes Purchase Order_XXXXX.XXX. Another way to do it would be to create destinations that have the wording that you want on the front of the file. All of the destinations could point to the same folder. You'll need to go to the SR Admin utility and look under...

Re: 1045 and Scan to Email

Graham ·
If you need the speed of the 1045 for the copy side than you're stuck with Global or SR Pro, if you can slow things up a bit, and maybe sell the idea of a little color to make up for the speed differential than try selling the new 1232 with a print/scan option. This will scan to e-mail just like the 1060. We got a 1224 and 1232 in the showroom this week and they seem pretty solid.

Re: Scan Router and POP3

Lee ·
Thanks. We were playing around today and trying to figure out WHY SR Pro required a POP3 since it only sends email. We finally found it. One of the options underDelivery Defaults is to have the Sender (if known) notified of a failed delivery. With the box checked, if the person at the machine selects a Sender that has an email address programmed, SR Pro will receive the failed delivery notice and forward it on to the Senders email. Thanks! Lee

Concerning Scan Router Pro, has anyone heard of the ability to route incoming faxes to a specific desktop based on the incoming RTI header? I am working on an account looking for this ability and the only function I am aware of is SR Pro subnet adressing. Any info? Thanks, Scott

You need to do all of the registry "hacks" to get it completely uninstalled and also, download the most current version of SR Lite from the Ricoh web site. This should help you. Thanks Graham

Amanda: What type of finishing?, do they need booklet making, more than 20 11 x 17's? Would they like to have spot color? Finishing options are available, however my first approach would be with two 90's with the finishers. You can sell the sizzle, that the systems will pretty much work unattended. They will have to fill and empty the paper, any printer would love to have the job run with out much labor involved and you can also sell the sizzle of direct print from the PC. If the finishing...

This is just a thought, but we've had some issues with Windows Service Pack 2 interferring with SR. In at least 1 case it removed SR from the computer entirely. We uninstalled Service Pack 2 on one client, but this is a temporary solution to an ongoing problem. As soon as they update Windows it will happen again. Could this be an issue with your situation? Has anyone else run into this?

Re: SR 790

Shaja ·
This might be what you are talking about: Note that there are actually three different item numbers for the SR-790. The original item number was 410972, and was changed to 412730. That's the standard SR-790 that goes on most main engines with the appropriate bridge unit, including the 2035e's. Then, somebody in their infinite wisdom had the idea to create yet another item number, 002337MIU, for the SR-790 that goes on the 3224C. To the best of my knowledge, this is a "bundled" part number...

Re: 270 and SRlite?

Jomama (Guest) ·
The 270 with print and scan needed two drops. So the addy of the SR was installed in the 270 and the delivery option was turned to "delivery" Then the address book in the SR was set up with the destinations of the other work stations. The work stations got SW called Desktop binder and a portion of it monitors SR for scans. Almost the same setup as the present system.
