As a business owner, during COVID-19 would you prefer? 1). No lease payments for 90 days 2). 1/2 price lease payments for one year The auto industry is pushing no payments for 90 days but I think business owners are more concerned about cash flow for the next year. I think the correct strategy is to offer as part of your...

Re: Saudi-Based United Carton Industries Company Invests in Digital with EFI Nozomi Corrugated Printer
Ever since I saw the name Nozomi I was curious where it came from. I found this on wikipedia Nozomi ( Japanese : のぞみ , lit. "Wish" or "Hope," and known before launch as Planet-B ) was a Mars orbiter that failed to reach Mars due to electrical failures. The mission was terminated on December 31, 2003. Re: Things getting weird for Xerox Dealers
Very strange. I interact with the CRG on a regular basis and have had no indication of reduced staff, etc. I can’t comment on your issue with parts as we do not rely on xerox to send our parts, we stock and replenish out of our own warehouse. No substantial difference between xerox parts on b/o than Canon or HP. Not nearly as bad as Ricoh. We dropped the ricoh product years ago as we couldn’t handle the constant toner b/o issues. Parts I can somewhat understand, but toner? Hope that your...

Re: Compensation Question
Honestly, compensation models got out of whack when the industry became predominantly color devices. Compensation models are stuck in the B/W days. There is a reason that the manufacturer gives you a much bigger spiff on a color device than a similar B/W device. Does your dealer compensation reflect anything like that? It probably should.

Re: 57 Days of Selling "Day 16"
Art, how do you create a funnel of 180k each and every month? What constitutes an "opportunity" in your mind: a) A customer who is actively looking for a solution you offer or B) Someone that you've determined (not the customer yet) has a need for a solution you offer?

Re: 57 Days of Selling "Day 16"
Never ever stop prospecting is the key. Always adding and subtracting. I would say on average I keep about $100K of deals I think can close in 30 days. I focus on 180 because 2/3rd of them will either roll, or lose. 90% of the time, I will wait until the first contact to determine if that appointment is an opportunity. Once it's in the funnel, I then determine when it may have a chance to close. If's it's more than 50% it's going in the 30 day close funnel

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days
President Trump announced today, effective Sept 24 2018, a 10% tariff on a broad list of $200 B worth of Chinese goods. https://ustr.gov/about-us/poli...inalizes-tariffs-200 On this final list are all forms of copy devices. No mention of printers. No mention of toner. Unless China makes serious trade concessions to the USA, without retaliatory tariffs of its own on USA made goods sold in China, the 10% tariff will rise to 25% on Jan 01 2019. Yup, it's a pretty BIG Hammer! I heard a radio report that the US trade debt rose significantly in July. I'm thinking what you stated is that "many of the manufacturers have stuffed thier warehouses". That's probably why we haven't seen anything to date with increases.

Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days
China retaliated to the new US $200 B worth of tariffs with $60 B worth of new 10% tariffs on USA made goods sold in China. This move is in defiance of President Trump's threat to raise the tariff on Chinese goods to 25% on Jan 01 2019 if China retaliated.

HotSpot printers allow you to print from anything that has email access including iPhones or BlackBerries. You don't need drivers and you don't need to be on the network. My thoughts on a Senior VP's request to join: a.) It illustrates the level of legitimacy this site has attained. b.) This site originated largely due to the fact that our concerns were being censored. What we (at least I) wanted was valid and accurate discourse. Maybe the possibility of reaching that goal is hampered somewhat by the lack of senior management participation. Wouldn't the ultimate be to have open dialog from all sides? c.) I would like to hear from anyone that has some insight on the new Bizhub color production 80 PPM system. I heard from a customer that they were shown this unit in a "behind the scenes" preview at Print 09 and that KM would be launching it this spring. From what I gathered, they beefed up the g/m² , changed the feeding mechanism, tighter registration and would share the accessories as the b/w 1200 unit. Very curious to see where it is positioned relative to Ricoh's production products.

Our dealer rep from Sammy was in late last week to discuss what we need to be able to handle the 11 x 17 release. In Canada they say it will be a 35 and 45 B&W and a 25 and 35 colour. Part of what they see is the ability to bid for larger deals where there is a need for SOME 11 x 17 but they can still do large part of deal with A4 product. He said they expect it for first quarter 2011. They know they are going to be an also ran in some ways but if they get the CPC in line then we know...

Quota setting is a new feature that allows administrators to set limits on the volumes that individual users or groups can run on the machine. More than a User Code tracking feature, limits can be placed on different kinds of output (color/B&W mode, copy or print, etc.)

Thanks for the heads up, I dont think these models will be introduced in the US though, I hope I'm wrong, the A4 models just introduced, MX-C401SC and MX-B401SC are really feature rich and impressive in the way you can feed plastic ID cards through the feeder and have both sides scanned. Re: scanning using auto color select
I've seen that on Ricoh and Canon products. So I think it's a problem with Acrobat more than the MFP. The issue is that the file is tagged as a "color" document so the MFP prints it as a color document. We tell our customers that when you print, the only way to be sure to get charged for a B&W print is to select B&W in the driver.

Re: Color Print Control
Thanks for the feedback. txeagle24, I'm a little confused by this statement: there would be no black and white documents that would accidently use color toner. This sounds like you're talking about process black (which normally clicks as black). What I'm talking about is if the printing is not defaulted to B&W when the customer prints mapquest or something with a hyperlink it prints and clicks color. This is regardless of whether they have a toner inclusive agreement or not. If the...

Re: Color Print Control
No, absolutely none of them do this. There is no MFP/printer (at least from Ricoh/Canon/HP/Lexmark/Kyocera) that will print a (truly) black document and click it for color. Now, there are many many times that a document appears to be B&W to the human eye and contains color to the computer's eye. The most famous instance of this is Acrobat 4. Acrobat4?!?!? you say? No one uses Acrobat4! But that's not true. For compatibility's sake, many scanners with a direct to PDF option (even...
