Re: A4s and Single Function Laser in MPS
My first thought is that your post has a lot of jargon in it I don't understand. (I'm directly responsible for MPS, so it's not that I'm unfamiliar with the terms). When Art can't understand your question about and industry he's been in for 20+ years, it's time to back up and re-write . Secondly, regarding your questions about placing supplemental A4 MFPs around, it all depends upon the customer. I have some customers that have central MFPs and NO additional MFP capability. I have others...

Re: Questions
I would like to hear from anyone that has some insight on the new Bizhub color production 80 PPM system. I heard from a customer that they were shown this unit in a "behind the scenes" preview at Print 09 and that KM would be launching it this spring. From what I gathered, they beefed up the g/m² , changed the feeding mechanism, tighter registration and would share the accessories as the b/w 1200 unit. Very curious to see where it is positioned relative to Ricoh's production products.

Re: Cloud Printing
We haven't been asked for it yet, but boy you sure can see it coming. Even in our own office, we are increasingly using iPads and other mobile devices that lend themselves to cloud type usage. Also, cloud computing is making certain services more affordable to to smaller companies who can't afford their own IT personnel. They will eventually, and naturally, look to cloud solutions for their print needs as well. Here is a fresh story driving home this point. I suggest reading the comments...

Official Response from Ricoh Answer (Anthony Marzano) 08/04/2003 05:48 PM Art, Currently there is a limitation in printing large size PDF files at 600 dpi. This issue should be resolved in the next version of Winprint driver software release. I can open a file and print however, I cannot print larger than a 24 x 36 document. Unfortunately, my...

Re: RBS Continues to Dump Machines & Make Dealers Look Bad!
I work for RBS as wide format specialist, I hit my numbers selling wide format, and that quote is impossible. It's below cost, not including networking, delivery, toner, etc. No need to fire this guy, he can't make a living selling like this anyway. Some offices (and dealers) don't have anyone that understands wide format, and will try to sell them at a cut price to keep a good customer and keep someone that knows wide format out of the account. I've picked up nice business selling B2C and...

Re: Ricoh Rumor!! New Strategy?
We just brought in a MFX-4550 for evaluation. I printed off all the comments on this page and gave them to my service manager, and he thanks you for all the good insight. We have a tip to share back, and Ryan and Art will be glad to hear this. That annoying "confirm page size" screen that you get every time you open a paper drawer? You can turn it off. Go into the Machine Set-up/Admin Set-up screens, and poke around and you'll find it. We'll let you know how the rest of the evaluation goes.

Re: When selling wide format
Art, Can you shed some light on how you came up with the savings per page vs. a plotter? I haven't delved into the world of connected wide format very often in the past, so this is all new to me (but the FW240 has me psyched on breaking into this market) Also, am I right in my assumption that plotters can only produce line drawings with no fill or gray scale? (again, this is all new to me so if I'm going to make waves in this market, I guess I had better start doing homework!) Thanks for any...

Re: 1060 and Twain driver
Just a note to follow up on my problem / solution. I installed the older version of the TWAIN driver today on the network that originally caused me the problems and everything is working great. I also did not have to run NetBEUI as Tech Services told me I would. I simply uninstalled the new version, then installed the older driver and everything worked like a charm. From now on, when I am involved in an installation, we install the software/drivers that come on the CD's that are included...

Re: @ Remote is Here!!
Ok first of all I think @Remote is really neato and I'd love for every one of our machines to have it. Having said that. Where's the cost/benefit point for this product? As a dealer, it certainly isn't woth $650 per machine to me to collect meter readings. My customers do that well enough and if they don't it isn't me that gets hurt. As far as service calls, yes it may help my reputation if my technician shows up to fix a problem the customer doesn't know they have, but again, my customers...

Re: Ricoh Distributed Scan Management with new 03 series
DSM will let you centrally manage scan buttons on an mfp (that supports DSM) to a folder, email, or SharePoint from a Windows 2008 R2 Server. Access to the buttons is controlled with AD. No OCR functionality but it is now an option on the mfp itself. No more individual address books to worry about. Ricoh announced support back in 2010 but unfortunately very few models have it.

At the time the materials were developed, we wanted to make sure that the scanner worked with the 480 and the 240, technically the products utilizing the Ratio controller. Therefore, before we put any information that the 240 and 480 worked with the scanner, we wanted to conduct some testing. We basically know that the scanner will work with the 240 (based on test conducted by Contex) and the 480 (based on tests that were run by TSC). Although the launch materials do not reference, the...

Paul Very nice. A few questions for you. Was the SBB just for printers or where their MFP's included also? At $35K per month I'm thinking their had to be some MFP's. As you know I'm a believer in SBB, and just wish the dealership that I work for could embrace SBB. it is the wave of the future and the only way to combat the race to zero for the cost per page. Art

Re: 5 Reasons Why Leaders Of Copier Dealerships Should Have Strong LinkedIn Profiles
Larry I believe, you believe it, yet it seems to me the involvement of "C" level execs on LinkedIn is very low, unless they are all lurkers. There's only a handful of "C" level execs in our industry that promote, inspire and engage. One of my biggest concerns with LinkedIn is that most "C" levels execs either don't have the time or are too busy running the ship to become active. Maybe that next generation may turn the tide with LinkedIn, but for right now, I know more Boomers that are much...

Art, Nice comments. Love the Promote, Inspire & Engage! Just as the dealership website is a necessity so is their LinkedIn presence as well. Most don't give a second thought but they should as this directly affects their image. Setting aside 30 minutes per day is not asking much. Set the example.

Re: Managed IT Services: The Imaging Channel vs. A Lack of Confidence
I'd like to hear from people who have transition into MNS and are actually making money with it...making a profit that actually makes it worth it. Between the CDA members and others in the industry, I have heard so many people who are doing it to be deeper and wider in their accounts but the IT business is not profitable for them. I guess on the other side of the equation I'm hearing a lot of people who are buying an IT company and integrating them into their imaging companies. Seems the way...

Re: Managed IT Services: The Imaging Channel vs. A Lack of Confidence
we're doing it, not sure if we're making money on it. Not privy to that part of the business. Stratix is one of those that just bought an IT company, seems that is the way to go since those IT companies are already turning a profit.
