Re: GR firm wins Muskegon school district's copier bid
Not only did Office Machines Company (a SHARP Dealer) lose out to IKON, the following Ricoh Family Group Dealers lost out to IKON: Lanier = Advanced Imaging Solutions Ricoh = Applied Imaging Savin = Adams Remco This trend will continue, wherein more and more IKON wins are realized at the expense of the Independent Dealers.

Re: GR firm wins Muskegon school district's copier bid
I understand that these dealers are part of the RFG, but they are also dual line dealers. Advanced Imaging recently taking on Canon and Adams Remco using Toshiba, especially for bid situations. Not as familiar with Applied Imaging, but I believe they are Canon also.

Re: New Sharp Smart Phone MFP User Interface
Yah but unfortunately its a...SHARP! Let them "hammer out" all the issues it will have, then everyone else will follow. Word from the Sharp DSM in Oregon is the screen locked up a lot during their two demo's and also had some glitches in scanning functions. BUT someone has to start the new trend and I'm sure by firmware version 30.1 it will be incredible! Nothing against you personally montecore

Yeti: I can understand the size thing and even though populations maybe the same, I'm sure there are many other factors also. However, I'm sure we can all agree that less will mean more when it comes to not having a direct branch in your back yard. I hoping that even as small as this deal is that the trend continues, it would get the industry back on track to more sustaniable levels, increase dealer business, increase profit for dealers.

So, what happens if they expand and sign another nine new or expanded contracts next year? Will that also result in losses for 2012?

Re: Leasing Company Copiers are Underwater
Agreed. The client (is it a municipality?) either took a risk knowingly "Eh, flood insurance, who needs it" or unknowingly (incompetence). They now have a loss. But, this is the trend... I made a bad decision, is there someone with the last name ", Inc." who can be coerced or compelled to pay the bill? Fixed that for you...

Re: Leasing Company Copiers are Underwater
So, do you think it would be ethical for the leasing company to go after full stream of payments plus residual in the case I described??? I don't begrudge the leasing company a fair return on their outlay of money but to want the full stream plus residual 4 weeks after funding is excessive. That's making 40% interest on their money for a one month investment. Would you be happy as the leasing partner???? I doubt it. Keep in mind your reputation as a salesperson is attached to how your...

Re: Leasing Company Copiers are Underwater
Well, of course. We all understand that there is NO question of ethics, both parties signed a contract and agreed to obligations. Both took on risks. Now one party has experienced those risks. Is GA entitled to what the contract says they are entitled to after 4 weeks, or only after 5? Five is pretty short... maybe they get what the contract says after 15 weeks, but not 14? Or maybe they get what the contract says if the contract goes to term but they eat it if anything bad happens prior to...

Re: Big Tom Out as Prez at Ricoh
The immediate trend (KMBS, Xerox) is Japan direct to dealers in the USA. Global dealers are able to purchase for 30+% off of DMAP 6 equivalent. If Ricoh is going to survive this war they will have to eliminate Ricoh USA. Which got me wondering: What does Ricoh USA do for their dealers...really?!

The following thread was picked up in reference to the new Kyocera's listed above: firedrum Full Member Posted September 22, 2007 08:20 AM Hide Post Thanks for the link, I've been waiting to see what these machines were going to look like. Re: Hughes-Calihan sold to Konica Minolta
likely a trend that will continue. Albin, another large KM owned "dealership" out of Detroit has just purchased a small and failing KM dealer in South Bend. As a KM dealership here it should be interesting to see what effect they will have in the marketplace. I love the KM line, especially the 60ppm and up b&w and the color. We also have Canon, so we shall see.

Re: Ricoh Distributed Scan Management with new 03 series
DSM will let you centrally manage scan buttons on an mfp (that supports DSM) to a folder, email, or SharePoint from a Windows 2008 R2 Server. Access to the buttons is controlled with AD. No OCR functionality but it is now an option on the mfp itself. No more individual address books to worry about. Ricoh announced support back in 2010 but unfortunately very few models have it.

Re: Imaging Channel, Let's Become the Innovation Channel!!
Ray Good stuff, however when discussing imaging (which is a wide portfolio of devices), everyone seems to forget about the huge growth of niche imaging devices. Those devices include wide format, grand wide format, label presses, and envelope presses. While in Las Vegas in the spring of this year, I was able to attend the ISA Sign Expo. I've been to a lot of events in the past year and the ISA was the largest event I every attended. Two hundred thousand square feet of convention space with...

Re: CPC rates vs Machine Cost with Customers
From a small town in South Africa and a technician .The cpc defines the type of company you are dealing with as a costumer or company shopping for a copier any sales person or copier company that has a lower cpc is normally going to be the worse pick . A low cpc quote is not a good thing and these companies will often escalate the cost per page and service contract ,they will have a bigger sales team then technical and this loss they are running at the undercutting of cpc to win deals is...

Re: What the heck is a Customer Success Manager?
Paul Very nice. A few questions for you. Was the SBB just for printers or where their MFP's included also? At $35K per month I'm thinking their had to be some MFP's. As you know I'm a believer in SBB, and just wish the dealership that I work for could embrace SBB. it is the wave of the future and the only way to combat the race to zero for the cost per page. Art

and another, however this one was from an old CFO in late sixties or early seventies: With an existing vendor and salesperson. Would you rather have follow ups via phone call or email? Follow up phone calls are more effective when there’s something important to talk about. Constant emails that serve no purpose other than advertising get deleted. Re: Konica Minolta Reinvents Office Print Technology with New IoT-Enabled bizhub® i-Series
This new copier line is one of the first to introduce a SSD 256 GB HDD as a standard feature. To date, I think all copier vendors have been using a 2.5" platter based HDD designed for laptop computers. I am wondering out loud the pros and cons of this choice. First off: 1). In all RFPs that I have seen the buyer is requesting a HDD and never a SSD. Konica Minolta is going to have to be constantly requesting amendments to RFPs. Maybe in the Konica Minolta new design there is the option to...

Re: 5 Reasons Why Leaders Of Copier Dealerships Should Have Strong LinkedIn Profiles
Larry I believe, you believe it, yet it seems to me the involvement of "C" level execs on LinkedIn is very low, unless they are all lurkers. There's only a handful of "C" level execs in our industry that promote, inspire and engage. One of my biggest concerns with LinkedIn is that most "C" levels execs either don't have the time or are too busy running the ship to become active. Maybe that next generation may turn the tide with LinkedIn, but for right now, I know more Boomers that are much...

Art, Nice comments. Love the Promote, Inspire & Engage! Just as the dealership website is a necessity so is their LinkedIn presence as well. Most don't give a second thought but they should as this directly affects their image. Setting aside 30 minutes per day is not asking much. Set the example.

Re: Managed IT Services: The Imaging Channel vs. A Lack of Confidence
I'd like to hear from people who have transition into MNS and are actually making money with it...making a profit that actually makes it worth it. Between the CDA members and others in the industry, I have heard so many people who are doing it to be deeper and wider in their accounts but the IT business is not profitable for them. I guess on the other side of the equation I'm hearing a lot of people who are buying an IT company and integrating them into their imaging companies. Seems the way...

we're doing it, not sure if we're making money on it. Not privy to that part of the business. Stratix is one of those that just bought an IT company, seems that is the way to go since those IT companies are already turning a profit.
