Top three points I make when against Kyocera. #1. Take them color samples from your device and any Kyocera because the color output is sub par on all units. I heard it through the grapevine a while back that RBS (at least in DFW) is no longer sending field reps out unless opportunities are above a certain value, meaning they are handling the sales process via telephone and email from start to finish. I see this as being the way things will be done in the future. There are a lot more of those than there used to be. That's why our industry has to change the way they add prospects to the pipeline. They are going to have to actually start marketing for a change (spend dollars on marketing instead of salespeople) & do things to position themselves as a resource companies will contact when they need something versus salespeople throwing a million lines in the water hoping they get a bite. Maven , What I tell my customers and when I'm out with sales reps is it's all about getting things done in less steps. I'm in the legal vertical so time is money and everyone has an hourly billable. We had never charged for it after the sale until about 6 months ago due to people calling all the time for driver installs, scanning issues related to their internet etc. We used to offer an optional network/it yearly agreement and people would decline and then start calling for help. nice job Larry. One thing I'm finding is that many of my first level contacts will have no clue about some of their connections. I have called and asked about other first level connections and most know recognize the name. I guess it's some type of Linkedin failure. Another item I've found about Linkedin is that many "C" level execs don't post their own threads. Someone in marketing is doing that for them. Linkedin is a great source for knowing who may or may not be connected to someone.

It depends on the value proposition I want to bring forward. If I am going with the whole "we'll save you money" pitch, I'll start with a CFO or Director of Finance. If it's regarding document management or a fleet replacement, I'll start with IT Director/IT Manager and go from there. Old Glory, we're in the same boat. I think if they haven't had a Ricoh system then it might be worthwhile to try to start them with the new stuff but I have to first retrain myself. I do like the Quick Copy widget and I think that might be a good way to introduce it to existing customers. I'd be interested to see what people who have never been exposed to the classic method find more user friendly.

So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

I would look into Fabsoft's Reform Print Driver. It captures the print stream from the user's application and allows you to apply "rules." I don't know if it will do what you need but it is where I would start. It's hard to place an accurate count on the number of trees we lose over a span of time because of the size of the number. Easier to track the loss of areas designated as forests since that highlights the biggest change, usually from nearly 100% of the surface area covered by trees to nearly 0%. Jake, No this is not a dumb question...here is the easiest way to do this: $187.24/0.0302 = $6200 You will have an outprice say $5200 gross profit is $1000 Total = $6200 If someone wants to purchase outright instead of lease sell it for $6200 that way you will still be making $1000 profit. Always start with your outprice of the machine first and build up from there. Every deal will be different based on the circumstances and your competition. Does this make sense?

Simply handing over a copier's HDD removes the OS within the copier making it unuseable. Plus there is some labour to remove the HDD and reload the firmware onto it. At least $200 - $300.00 total vs turning on 128 Bit AES Encryption at the start - Free. Going forward, we format the HDD on all of our own brand copiers we remove. For competitors brands, where we do not know the Service Codes, we can only inform the customer of the risks.

If the machine is printing a fax, the user will be able to copy the document, meaning it will scan the originals and after the fax has been received the copy process will start, same is true of printing to the device while it is printing a fax.

For a few of us at my company, sales have been at about the same levels as previous years, but many of our reps are barely treading water. 2011 is going to be an interesting year due to economic uncertainty and the fact that we will have to win more new business than in years past in order to hit our sales goals. We're counting on some hardware to start to "pull-through" in our MPS engagements as we begin the Optimize phase in the MPS accounts we've won this year.

The above software does not work properly after inital install unless you Stop/ Start the Print Spooler found under Services in Control Panel/Admin Tools. Except for Job Accounts none seem to work well with Dept Codes turned on.

Yah but unfortunately its a...SHARP! Let them "hammer out" all the issues it will have, then everyone else will follow. Word from the Sharp DSM in Oregon is the screen locked up a lot during their two demo's and also had some glitches in scanning functions. There are a number of factors that impact start-up cost for MPS clients. In the traditional "copier" world, prior to putting machines under contract we would inspect them, perform service to bring it up to spec and bill the client. In MPS, we just put them under contract, so the start up cost can be virtually nothing or cost an arm and a leg depending on the condition of the machines that are being placed under an MPS Agreement. Canon has a strong reputation for quality and great brand recognition with businesses of all sizes. My rule is, if they need more training, or something wrong or inconvenient with the way I set up the print scan, I'll make it right, no charge. If they add a workstation and want it configured,if they changed their router/switch, decide (after 60 days or so) they need a different configuration, or some O/S related problem, that is chargeable. I think we all struggle with where to draw the line. The point I make with my Sales force, as well as with my customers is if you come in one day and you can't scan to email, but it was working fine yesterday the customer perceives this as "my MFD is broken" because one or more of the functions have stopped working. GMAN Never thought of that with either Ed or Pietrunti, either one may play well for Ricoh. More importantly I think the industry as a whole is struggling to find and identify new ways to make profit with the slow demise of the printed and copied page. Quietly Ricoh has launched a new start up and site for it's eWriter solution. It's an imprtant step for at least one of he manufacturers to identify the loss of clicks, thus the eWriter solution model is based on SAS (Software as a Service).

Montecore, I have spent many years in sales and began networking our systems almost 10 years ago. Currently, I handle all of our connectivity and solutions for our company and I have connected and troubleshot hundreds, maybe thousands of computers. I agree, a technician can and should be able to resolve this problem. However, first it is necessary to identify the problem. This requires ruling out what it is not. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. If I tell you this story, it seems simple.

When you ask clients to replace what in their mind are perfectly good machines they start wondering about your motives. The environmental impact of throwing out or reselling working decent printers usually upsets people. No need for apologies! I wish we were going t have a new 25ppm with color scan. I can see we are going to start gettinh hammered if we dont have a refresh of the 16, 20 and 25 ppm a3 devices.
