Re: Charge for IT support

BCarroll ·
Thanks for the replies. We will probably do an opt out as well (as opposed to an opt-in), and base the charge on a % of total m/a billing. This is not so much to increase rev., but to cover costs and get clients accustomed to paying for the service.

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!

jdicarlo ·
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

The new Pro Series Production Printers are successors to the highly successful Digital Document Publisher models, the DDP70e and the DDP92. The eCopy Solution is not exactly cheap. With ShareScan, all of the Connectors and 5 year M&S on 20 copiers located in six cities, the extra cost is approx. $200k. I need 14x Black 65 cpm and 6x Colour 65 cpm at approx. $200k. I can pitch the $400k but I do not have six independent dealers with any techncial support familiarity with eCopy Share Scan.

I would like to hear from anyone that has some insight on the new Bizhub color production 80 PPM system. I heard from a customer that they were shown this unit in a "behind the scenes" preview at Print 09 and that KM would be launching it this spring. From what I gathered, they beefed up the g/m² , changed the feeding mechanism, tighter registration and would share the accessories as the b/w 1200 unit. Very curious to see where it is positioned relative to Ricoh's production products.

You guessed correctly! Now that yet another 'IKON' guy has been named the Dealer Division VP for Ricoh, will it result in a final nail in the coffin for Ricoh's Dealer channel? Jim Corridi is the infamous Ricoh employye that managed the large IKON business before Ricoh acquired the GIANT. It was Corriddi who helped IKON grow their business to 46% of Ricoh's total revenues at one point, which harmed may RFG Dealers during the process. As one example, Jim negotiated a deal that allowed IKON to...

Thanks everyone for the feedback and advice. I did send them an email this morning regarding the Fiery could have been used from the K-M machine. Did not mention Paper Stock, I will make sure that is equal also. I don't have the machines in my showroom, but we do have them in the field, perhaps a field trip to a customer site is the way to go, showing them the samples right there. Then maybe K-M can do the same. Will let you all know when I do.

I did notice that the Postsript is emulated with K-M, where we have the optional Genuine Adobe Postscript3. I offered to include it for free, explaining that True Adobe is better - but I wondering if it is that much better or not. Have there been any comparisons? I hope this may have more to do with color print accuracy than anything else, but I could be wrong.

Unfortunately it was lost. The customer wanted 60 per minute for black minimum and was not concerned if color was slower, since their volume would not be very high. The K-M is 60 black and 50 color, and the Ricoh/Savin is 65 black 60 color, and I was more expensive because of that I am sure, although the pricing was not revealed to me. So they used print resolution as the reason but I think it was pricing, they just didn't want to say it, even though he said we were about even, I am thinking...

Or they dealer could choose limited end user replacement or replacement only by a technican. The key is end user replacement, just like HP! Scott, What specifically is their application? Remember, the 2035/45, 1224/32, the 2090/2105, and 1060/75 all come with scan to e-mail out of the box. If they are sending to less than 2000 destinations, and don't require authentication. You're good to go out of the box. I'm told there is a way to create a csv? file form you e-mail address book and upload to the copier via smartnet monitor. If they require authentication or direct access to mailserver then you add Global Scan. Pete M.

Ah........, the long awaited SERI printer. This devices wroks in tandem with any of Ricoh's Digital Duplicators. It actually allows duplicators to print onto alternative media, such as "Tyvek", "Coated Stock" and other stock where the ink was not drying. The SERI dries the ink by passing the paper and ink from the duplicator under a UV light. This process also allows Ricoh to now release "transparent inks", meaning CMYK printing can be accomplished. To me the Seri gives us a new market, that...

We have a half dozen or so in the field, no complaints here, I did watch a customer send a print job of a 100 page booklet and there was no pause. Is this just happening with copies? If so, it could be a memory issue. The machine that I spoke about had the memory upgrade installed before we put it in the field. That may be the issue. Let me know what you come up with.

Well I scanned in my Densi test sheet and sent 40 copies to the Samsung and it paused every 12 sheet. The Densi test sheet with the Space Shuttle on it has 14% coverage. I then sent the first 5 pages of the 1022 service manual and it didn't pause at all. Our machine doesn't have the memory upgrade. I guess there is a possibility that it could be a memory issue but it really seems like a toner add issue. How can Samsung honestly sell this box as a 45/m machine with this type of limitation. We...
