I have probably done each of these options at some point in time...well except the quote at retail. I wouldn't want the perception to be that we had outrageous pricing. If the machine was entry level with a company that had little additional potential, I would respond with something like "a Doctor who prescribes without seeing the patient would lose his license and you take your job just as seriously." If it is a business that I would like to penetrate I would low-ball it and include nothing...

FAC16 is worse. Interesting tidbit...The UK has a small, medium, and large cabinet for this series. This is my guess... There is no way to put this on a cabinet and protect against it tipping over which of course, Ricoh would be liable for. However, if the dealer community comes up with their own answer, Ricoh has plausible deniability. If that is true, I wonder what the Direct side will do.

I'm seeing these at around $.015 mono and $.09 color which is a little higher than the C300/C400. But, it has a much smaller footprint that allows it to sit on a counter versus requiring a cabinet which is a major benefit. If you compare the hardware cost and CPP to competitive systems, it plays very well as a desktop unit.

Because not enough folks know enough about it to talk about it. I'm learning it but I always have to bring someone else in on the deal to talk the "lingo". As far as kurts problem goes. It sounds like the e-cabinet is not configured properly. We're fortunate enough that we have system's engineers who really know how to configure them to capture from any device on the network. Irregardless of make or model type.

One other thing I just found out about with the 1045 and e-cabinet, is that there is a way that you can actually browse the e-cabinet from the LCD screen on the 1045. I'm just not sure what options or software is needed to make that happen. I'll get more info and post it later.

The other thing to look at is the E-Cabinet solution. If your customer has the resourses for something like that it is a good solution for a mid size firm. Though you are looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of $14K-$25K additional expense by the time you place the cabinet and archiving solution. There is some in depth info at rsv.ricoh.com Graham

The one I just sold had an additional paper tray and the finsiher and cabinet. Muratec MSRP is $4,995 for 4550, I think $800 for finisher and $350 for paper tray and $400 for cabinet. What I have been doing is not leading with this machine, I am leading with traditional A3 systems. This looks like the Canon CLC1150 with built in Fiery RIP in the bottom right cabinet. It was a little slow by today's standards but its image quality was better than some current business color Canon.

Not much you can do, the MAC driver doesn’t have a user code option. You would need OEM print software, or the Ricoh print cabinet.

Not a bad approach, I have used it for years when I thought it would benefit the customer. However some customers still would like to have the system as an "all in one". We have had some problems with "cycling issues" with the "32" and the "24". Most of my customers have learned to live with this and are happy with what they purchased. You can tell the programmer, the fact is, the documents could be exported from the e-cabinet and entered (possibly automatically) into our open architecture "windows" system for less than the cost of the maintenance contract on the e-cabinet. Just in the last two weeks we have had one ship-out where the ARDF and Cabinet went straight to the end-user. On another order, the customer agreed to pay express charges to get it here as quickly as possible. Ricoh doesn't seem to know the meaning of express ship because it didn't happen. We tracked the order all the way to our door with a tracking number that ended up not having the machine as part of the shipment and when the machine did finally get here, it wasn't the S/P we ordered,...
