Re: Desktop Shortcut to Scanned Images via store to HDD in scanner
Its pretty strait forward. Default the scanner to Store File to HDD. At the PC create a desktop shortcut to Web Image Monitor. Have customer click on Print Job/Store File -------> Document server. They will be able to download the document. The real problem though is you are encountering a lazy IT guy. Any IT guy worth his salt will help you set up scan to folder.

Re: Kyocera 6500i Mobile Print Question
Yes. Kyocera Mobile Print is available with all Kyocera printers and mfps. This is a free app on google play and lstore or Itunes depending on if it is a droid or apple device that you are using. This is an onsite solution that uses your wireless network. 100% free is the key for this PRINT/SCAN app.

I'd like to get a better understanding of the difference between a 3rd party app to Sharepoint and the devices native Sharepoint integration. We now offer a service similar to Premier for Sharepoint and obviously combining document input and controlling document output is a hot topic here these days.

Re: Samsung Copier Million Page Test "A Tree Massacre"
Art, I think Samsung needed to do this test to shut the mouths of the critics. Now anyone who wonders or asks if the Samsungs are reliable will get a link to this test. My Service guys tell me that the Samsungs have been working well! And the new MX series with the Android (OS) Tablet has been very cool. That wish list item that you asked Ricoh for has already been delivered by Samsung! I have just worked with a 3rd party tech company to get the first non-Samsung Android App ported to the...

Re: Samsung Copier Million Page Test "A Tree Massacre"
Seems my Blog about the million page test was not that well received with Samsung. They complained to ENX Magazine who then pulled the blog off their site. Whatever happened to FREE Press? They were not happy that I pointed out that they used "x" amount of tree's for a 1980's type test! Since Samsung spends money with ENX, ENX pulled the blogs and is not posting any of my latest stuff. You know what, as far as I'm concerned we here this finance stuff about Sharp, Toshiba and none of the...

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: Time in business requirements
The leasing company makes money when and if they are paid back, not when they lend the money! The rep is always free to cosign the loan if they think it's a BS issue but I think it would suddenly become a REAL issue at that point. After all, at that point we'd be talking about REAL money, not OPM. The leasing company is just wisely refusing all businesses under two years, then looking at the credit app and seeing that there is basically nothing on the app to support the loan, so they request...

Cash Gap: Going back to the past and seems like you've been in the biz for a long time. There was a time when: If you were over 2 years in biz, 90% of the time no PG was required. The leasing companies that you did business with would not "cream" the apps, they would take the good, the bad and the ugly (well, sometimes with the ugly) Problem now, is that all leasing companies want the cream, and that's where I have an issue, if you want first dibs to our portfolio, don't cream the apps, and...

Re: MP201
I see it also has "mail to print" I'm guessing that is the same as "Hotspot Printing" But it says in the brochure that no 3rd party app is required. So does that exclude "Printer-ON' which handles the HotSpot subscription? I couldn't find any documentation on install or setup in the op manual or service manual. Anybody got any info on this?

Re: MP201
Thanks for that Art. A little research shows that Mail to Print is set up like internet faxing (like that helps alot) Which would explain why no 3rd party app is required. So why does HotSpot need the subscription? Anybody know much about this feature?

Re: MP201
I quess that's why the system now comes with PSIII, tho enable the mail2print feature. I have questions also! Why would I need hot spot when I can have mail2print? Are there any other limitation with mail2print other than if you send multiple attachments only the first attachement would be printed and the fact that mail2print does not support hi compression pdf. I know there's the cost of the PSIII when working with the other mfp's to enable mail2print. But what's the cost to use the Hot Spot?

Re: Google Cloud Print Opens Access to Printers Across the Globe
Basically your phone is sending the file to a PC or server that is running google chrome and is signed into your google account. You'd need to install and set up chrome on said PC/server as well as the cloud printing service and then download a. Cloud print app on your phone or tablet. You open the app and choose a file to print.

Re: Google Cloud Print Opens Access to Printers Across the Globe
The MFP is already connected to the internet. The Cloud Print client for the PC connected to the MFP identifies the printers that are connected to that PC. As long as that PC is online, running Chrome & you are logged in to your Google account, you can select the document you want to print from the Cloud Print app on your mobile device, select the settings (this is still in beta), and it will send the print job to the printer to which you choose to print. That PC is essentially acting as...

Canon's Cloud Portal - MEAP App allows you to connect a Canon ImageRUNNER-Advance to either GoogleDocs or MS Sharepoint Online. The MEAP App is free from Canon, and GoogleDocs will give you a free 1Gig of storage when you open a gmail account. The last time I checked a Terabyte of storage was ~ $250/year, which is pretty darn cheap. This allows you to Scan directly to GoogleDocs and Print Directly from GoogleDocs. You can even print MS Word, Excel, & Powerpoint docs that are stored on...

We have had some real good results with UniFLOW. We have used the Canon Prox card readers, as well as a number of different RFIDeas card readers. If you use the Canon \ NTware card reader you don't have to configure the meap app to talk to it, if you use the RFIDeas card reader you will need a CFG file and the proper web page to configure it. Your Canon Support guy (SE) will be able to help you figure out the right card reader. If you need an RFIDeas contact email me. Vince McHugh

I am surprised Sharp is not beating their drum more about this as I think it is an industry first. I have been involved in several mobile print installs lately and they sometimes involve allowing non employees to use a companies wireless LAN. Usually you also need a PC turned on all of the time with a wireless app like Breezy installed and running on a local PC. This could be potentially problematic from a security point of view. Sharp's new approach by making the MFP the wireless access...

Re: MP 301 Mobile Printing Solution
For either Android or iOS, you can also use the Smart Device Print App as long as they are on the same wireless network as the device they want to print to. What I like about the app is the ability to apply finishing, use Locked/Stored/Hold Print & allow the client to use User Codes. I don't know if you can do that with AirPrint on iOS devices.

Re: MP 301 Mobile Printing Solution

Pitney, long the leader in Mailing systems has some fast ink-jet printers designed to print addresses and USPS req'd bar codes along with limited color graphics so this could be their answer for a mailing app. I have no knowledge of a spot color device that could add to a .pdf fole tho. A more clearly described need thaty your customer has would help - if it's addresses and spot color graphics on pieces to be mailed take a look at this link: http://pitneyworks.com/g/#addressing .

Re: NECS becomes a Samsung dealer
The Samsung machines are very impressive. I am not an easy person to impress. Great touchscreen and the menus make sense to the customer. Searchable PDF, OCR and a workflow app similar to DigiDocFlow right out of the box. The machines are well built on par or better than anything competitors like Sharp or Toshiba have out there. They really do have a lot to offer and the pricing is incredible. We brought on Samsung as our secondary line. As for Ricoh, I hope they step it up on the dealer...

Re: Air Print for Metis
The Smart Device Print&Scan app works pretty well for both iOS & Android and does give you some advanced functionality in terms of finishing, Locked Print and more. Some formatting does get screwed up, but I'm not sure if that's the fault of the app or not. I do hope AirPrint is approved for this series by Apple soon. Some customers are used to using that at home on their $100 printer and are somewhat annoyed that it won't work on their expensive business-class system.

Re: Air Print for Metis
One cool thing you can do with the Smart Device Print app(Android) is share things to the printer. Basically you open a picture or PDF or whatever print ready item and click on the share button the 3 connected dots in the shape of a v and then scroll down past facebook, e-mail etc to Smart Device Print and it connects and prints. Good way to do a mobile print app is take a picture of the customer by the machine and print it out. With practice you can do this very fast and its a nice stunt.
