Re: Samsung Copier Million Page Test "A Tree Massacre"
Seems my Blog about the million page test was not that well received with Samsung. They complained to ENX Magazine who then pulled the blog off their site. Whatever happened to FREE Press? They were not happy that I pointed out that they used "x" amount of tree's for a 1980's type test! Since Samsung spends money with ENX, ENX pulled the blogs and is not posting any of my latest stuff. You know what, as far as I'm concerned we here this finance stuff about Sharp, Toshiba and none of the...

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Frak, who is going to blink first? Xerox or Fujifilm Xerox states that they will not renew the 50 year relationship with Fuji-Xerox, Fuji Xerox manufacturers most of Xerox's MFPs. Where would Xerox go for MFP's?

Re: Xerox explores sale of leasing finance unit: sources
Oce did that 10 years ago and went bust. They didn't realise how much they relied on the monthly rental income and how inflexible third party leasing companies are when you want to upgrade mid term. The financing arm is usually the most profitable side of the business. High interest rate to customers, low rates for them and if the customer goes bust you generally get you equipment back and at the end of the contract you get your gear back.

So this effort is eliminate "carbon copied" work orders for service techs? What is wrong with the print "workflow" when the software application that generates a service form cannot be configured to print two of the same item? This is not an easy "printer-centric" fix. The application needs to either carry this information to the printer as part of the job or you must have some print-based software (Planet Press/Dataworks) telling the printer what to do. At this point, what other problems...

Chuck - my post (above) about "17 C900 units placed" was just a joke. If you count the Press Releases from Ricoh every time a C900 is sold, they would actually have about four or five C900 units in the field. I'll try to get facts.

Re: UPDATE 3-Canon buys Dutch Oce for $1.1 bln, fights Ricoh
Found this on the web today:: By Pavel Alpeyev Nov. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Orbis Funds, the asset manager that opposed takeover offers by Warren Buffett and Citigroup Inc., rejected Canon Inc.’s 730 million euro ($1.1 billion) bid to buy unprofitable Dutch printer maker Oce NV as too low. Last week, Orbis, a 10% shareholder in Océ said that it believed the bid "significantly undervalued" Océ, despite a general impression that the bid was a strong one in order to deter a counter bid from Konica Minolta. I mean a fuser is a fuser no matter who makes it I thought, but maybe a certain brand fuser has some kind of advantage? And taking it further, why? Is there a different substance being used in the materials, ie: pressure or hot roller or maybe the toner adheres to the paper better with some brands, and if so what is in the toner that does that?
