Re: scan to SMB to Windows 2003 server with Ricoh MP2000Le

JasonR ·
I believe that issue was fixed with firmware quite a while ago. If not, the fix I've always used was FTP instead of SMB. FTP takes under a minute to set up on the server and has a wizard to step you through the setup. People usually raise security concern with "opening" FTP, but it is very secure since you can tell FTP to only accept communication from a single IP (the IP of the copier) AND require a username and password. You can also only allow "write" rights so that even if someone could...

Re: Why printer security should be a priority for your organization

Networked copiers & printers are end points on the network. In most cases firmware is hardly ever updated, in addition that existing copier and printer technology was developed 12-18 months prior to launch. It's all about risk, how much risk are you willing to take? For years the copier aka MFP industry almost never updated firmware for MFP's in the field unless there was an issue. No issues means no firmware updates. New IM series MFP's offer auto firmware updates. It's all about RISK,...

Critical Bug Opens Millions of HP OfficeJet Printers to Attack

You know, it was one thing when this was just some hack-job news report, but when they turn this into legislation, someone needs to speak up. There is absolutely NO WAY they purchased 4 machines at random and wound up with machines owned by those businesses.
