John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: The Effect Currency Evaluations have on the MFP industry
It is ironic that Communist China has the ability to cause significant damage to the world's greatest democracy with the capitalist concept of debt. Anyway not to get political, copier prices might soon be rising simply because of the powerful forces of currency change.

Re: Can you trust the Cloud?
A real interesting concept from Lexmark https://smartsolutions.lexmark.com/ssds/ You can basically upload dozens of free premade Templates with nice graphics into your MFP to simplify various tasks. Lexmark has opened up their SDK to any software developer to create new Templates and possibly charge a fee for download. This seems like a real reason why you might want your MFP connected to browse the internet.

A COMPUTER virus created to sabotage Iran's nuclear programme and stop Tehran developing an atomic bomb was designed by American and Israeli experts, it was claimed yesterday. Re: For HP, Copiers May Not Be A Cinch
Another tool for your tool box that I haven't heard touted very often is the supply inventory issue. Our copier contracts include supplies. Therefore the supplies are being paid for in arrears and $0 cost for supply inventory. Any decent sized company is going to have $1,000's of dollars invested in HP supply inventory that is all paid for in advance. Any CEO, CFO type can latch on to that concept without any trouble at all.

Re: Sales Tips
Sales Pipeline: A sales pipeline is a very important concept in selling because it is the recognition of the origin and result of each sale. Each sale starts as a lead -- which is a phone number, a name, an email address, a referral or someone who walks into your store -- they are leads. From there, you qualify the lead, which means, you make sure this person is capable of becoming a customer -- either they have enough money or the right size outfit for your product. For instance, you might...

I currently have 5 hot spot enabled mfp's in use at one account and we have another 5 on order for them. They are extremely happy with the concept and the flexibility it has offered them. The actual units were installed in 2010 and we have added the "hot spot" option this year. The kit comes with stickers, and end user instructions on how to use. The customer seems to be very pleased with units.

Re: Riso HC5000
Yes, I'll be at the dealer meeting. The Lexmark affiliation is actually over a year old. Their concept was to provide a turn-key printing solution that would have print jobs automatically routed to the most cost-effective printing device depending upon preset print parameters. I had always viewed it as a desperate attempt to remain viable. However, between the Ricoh SeriPrinter and the Riso HC5000, I have an improved confidence in the future of Digital Duplicators.

Re: Notice to All Copier Employees
Subject: Redistribution Experiment Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed. Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, and again I laughed as he had given away his political preference -- just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I...

Re: Canon Draws Crowds, Raves At Graph
Dontcha just love press releases. I went to Graph Expo yesterday, and I will say that the only two companies aggressively promoting their copiers were Canon and Xerox. Walked in the door to see two big Xerox and Canon copier banners (about the size of a small building) right there in the McCormick Place lobby. Konica had a C6500 buried in the EFI booth, and if anybody else was there (Ricoh???) I didn't see it. Quite a switch from last year when Konica had the whole industry buzzing about the...

Art, I have Smart Device Monitor for Admin if you need it. Slight correction...both the IM 430F and the IM 430Fb are 43 ppm. Additional info...the 430F (SP 501) has a Service Maintenance platform while the 430Fb (SP 502) has a User Maintenance platform. The SP 510 and SP 502 are printer only versions of their respective MFP's. As far as I know, the SP's and the IM 350 (350F without a standard fax) have not been launched yet. It is interesting to note that the service training does not reference the MP 301SPF or the MP 402SPF at all. The new IM units...

Below is probably one of the most mis-understood printers (well not actually a printer) of our time. The Seri Print 25 was a really cool in-line attachment to the Ricoh duplicators. You would replace the Ricoh ink with Seri Ink, and then you'd be able to print on any gloss coatings. The Seri printer used a UV light to cure the ink on the gloss coat. Alas the Seri is no more and Ricoh is just about out of the duplicator industry now. Enjoy the threads from ten years ago this week! Konica...
