At one time I would have said this series was the best built tabletop on the market. Three incarnations later this design is way past its prime. We need a completely new tabletop with speed and a touch screen. Ricoh is blowing it on A4. They took a hard line stance against A4 machines a few years back and now its biting them in the bottom. Ricoh is our main line but we are selling another manufacturers A4 probably 3 to 1 because Ricoh's product has fallen behind.

I don't understand how companies feel comfortable running at a loss,and I don't understand how customers award contracts to companies that are not operating at a profit. If I was a purchaser looking for a vendor the first thing I'd be thinking about is will I still be dealing with the same company by the end of the contract. These guys are RIPE for a takeover.

I'm averaging about 2 per week but I sell desktop printers all the way up to 80 ppm copiers, both compatible and OEM toner, repair/maintenance agreements, document management and MPS. The ones that call in usually find me through keywords i.e. Atlanta Kyocera Sales ect. The carrier sheet that is referenced is no more than a sheet of mylar that has been folded in half to accomodate the print. There is also a company known as Design Products Co. that carries this product their phone # is 1-800-322-3263. a 24" x 36" is 25.00 and the 36"x 48" is 35.00. I hear an update is finally getting close (v1.4). We have a representative from Ricoh Corp. coming out soon to meet with our client to address some of the concerns that they have. They (Ricoh) are also looking for customer suggestions to try and make the Global scan experience more user friendly. I'm all for that. If you design something for a high volume of scans, it should be very easy to use. I'll post any results I hear from that meeting.

Well, there are a couple of ways to look at it. The fact of the matter is, the Canon dealer probably doesn't have a very good handle on the situation. And if the client is running a high percentage of 11x17, then they are going to lose out in service and supplies. We charge 2 clicks for 11x17. And, although I may lose a deal every now and then, by not being close enough to make a difference, we aren't going to lose our pants on mismanaging service. I saw this system demo'd @ Ricoh several years ago. Its development name is Ruby. As you can see from the picture, it is the same design style as the JP5000/5450, thus an older unit, not new. It also only supports UC6 and CPIF26, because it does not have the updated main board to support the Type 80.
