Re: Oki 1450 vs Ricoh 6700 wide Format
So, the Oki or Teriostar 1040 is one page per minute faster than the Ricoh. Oki wants the user to replace the corona wire cartridge and the process cartridge. I believe the process cartridge is the drum. Now, the memories come back, if an end user scratches that drum, it's on the user to replace the drum which is going to be a very pricey item. If I was a business owner I would not want my peeps handling a part that has a cost of $1,500-$2,000. If they scratch it, it's on me to buy another,...

Any opinions on how these have sold historically and how they have fared in the last year or so as they become old? Also, does it seem like they are being replaced or just discontinued? I feel like there is not a huge market for ultra low-end A3 BW MFPs. I think only Kyocera has a walk-up A3 BW MFP below 20ppm.

Joe.....sounds like Sharp1 is bias on the 453. I agree with sharp1 that the 453 is a nice unit. But doesn't any 45ppm unit run 5000-20,000/mo? That is the norm for that segment. I should know I worked for Sharp and sold these exact systems. But I have to say if you have an customer that is already not happy then you try to sell them a system with all those extra bells and whistles when they don't want or need then....well you are adding fuel to the fire. I sell against Sharp all the time and...

Yes and thats not much. Pays for maybe a Production SE, Lease admin or sales coordinator and part of a Sales Manager. Art it depends on how many reps whats the comp plan etc.. Do any reps voluntarily give back salaries when they sell little or nothing one or two months out of the year? I think not, the pad also covers these inevitable down months. If you want to be pure about it. Compare a straight commission position with actual dealer cost. I did it once and made the most money I ever...

so at cash gaps math, I travel 20,000 per year, based on that and my car averages 20 mile per gallon (oops), I'll use 5 gallans for every 100 miles!!! Thus I'm spending $5,000 per year on gas (gotta get a better expense check). If I got a new car that DID get 50 miles per gallon (oops) 2 gallons per 100 miles. I would only spend $2,000 and save $3,000 per year. Since those hybrid models are not cheap, I'd have to spend about $25,000. It would take 8 years to recoup the cost of the car. I...

I've seen the 3100 a couple of times, haven't sat down with it in detail. First impressions are, Nice box, nice features.... Color is business-class ONLY. Canon rates the 3200 as business color, but I have several customers who are graphics shops who use it. This will not ever happen with the 3100. Not that I know of yet. Was it part of the Seri configuration? I knew they were developing that, but thought it was going to be a Seri hybrid - that is using a resin ink. Also, how many heads did it have? My information says that they might have up to 6 heads when all said and done. They are supposed to be replacing the 8500 with a unit that has the HQ master technology, with much greater functionality at the control panel. Any new news of that?

Several reasons: Production units have enhanced durability, lower cpc and comes with a dedicated print specialist that assists in the sale. Leverage that with Xerox historically owning the production space it makes sense to go with heavy iron rather than fast plastic. That's an easy sell to a customer.
