If it helps, Canon A4 staplers are usually around $900 whole sale.

Re: All Ricoh A4 devices = no stapler
The 501/601 are based on a Kyocera MFP without a stapler, so Ricoh didn't have much of a choice on that one. Agreed that its a disadvantage against other A4s, so with Ricoh you will either have to sell the C401 with a finisher or an A3 MFP for the foreseeable future.

Re: Are Copier Sales Reps Asking the Right Questions
As you said, this blog wasn't meant to cover all the bases but your comments about brand loyalty and brand/service provider loyalty are only true if the decision maker has been the same for each decision. If you aren't talking to the owner, you may be talking to a totally different person than the one that made past decisions. You need to know that before you decide whether to pack your bags and walk away. Also, in a leased equipment environment, the decision to stay with the same brand and...

Re: Ricoh MP C4503 import to address book
Art, I have Smart Device Monitor for Admin if you need it. I hate the new Smart Device Manager NX, it does a lot of stuff I don't need and doesn't do the things I used in smart device monitor for admin nearly as well. Importing a CSV file is very easy with sdma, open the program and make sure the monitoring is set to the right network (usually nothing needs to be changed unless you have a fairly complicated/unique network). Right click on the device you want to manage and select Address...

Re: Document Storage on Canon MFP's?
Here's what I found in a security brochure for Canon MFPs: Mail box imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems offer an onboard secure printing workflow. For example, a user can store print jobs to a password-protected Mail Box on the device. Later, that same user can walk up to the device and enter the Mail Box password to print the job as needed. Advanced Box is the collaborative storage space on imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems. Advanced Box enables users to store electronic files within a multitiered folder...

Re: Document Storage on Canon MFP's?
Canon Mail Boxes are awesome. IMO they are slightly superior to Ricoh's Document Server because you can password protect individual mailboxes to prevent visibility of peoples' files. You can have up to 100 mailboxes. Many customers use Mail Boxes as a built-in feature for secure release, because again with Secure Print the file name is visible. The only drawback with Mailboxes is that it's not available on every model. The models that have it are 4200 series, C5200 series, 6200 series, C7200...

Czech is right. You'd think the customer would learn. I've seen those customers who have been hosed and know it do business with the same crook again because they promised to make it right. Dealt with one recently who had two large canon devices and got hosed by the rep and turned around and bought two more from the guy again. Blows my mind. ive walked away from a few deals with ridiculous demands (nothing as bad as the story) and usually the customer has said ok no problem. It's like they...

Yes, I had an account who had TWO Xerox down for over two months and would NEVER do business with them again. I had been renting to this contractor for years and really made a great proposal and pretty much expected that sale. They stayed with Xerox!! You just wonder what their thought process is on these kind of deals. They will end up in the exact same boat in 5 years and go through the motions and get absolutely nowhere. Good Luck!!

Re: Why printer security should be a priority for your organization
Networked copiers & printers are end points on the network. In most cases firmware is hardly ever updated, in addition that existing copier and printer technology was developed 12-18 months prior to launch. It's all about risk, how much risk are you willing to take? For years the copier aka MFP industry almost never updated firmware for MFP's in the field unless there was an issue. No issues means no firmware updates. New IM series MFP's offer auto firmware updates. It's all about RISK,...

Hey Art have you been seeing this machine out in the field yet? How is it performing if you have. Epson just sent me info on adding their product line, I gotta say I'm intrigued, but don't really see any reviews of the product from anyone I know in the industry.

I haven't seen one in the field yet. There are a few dealers on this site (pretty regular) that took that product on. @Jason H or eddy jones. they might be able to tell you more than I can. I do like the product though!

Re: Who's Afraid of the Epson WorkForce C20590 100ppm MFP?
@printguy @Art Post We have not sold a single one yet. Most people seem to have no interest in ink. I like the product. It is a Kyocera finisher. The problem with the finisher is that it slows the machine down to half speed. So ultimately someone is getting a 50ppm system, not a 100ppm if you have the finisher. Space is an issue if you have the finisher. I talk about the product to everyone but most people revert back to a toner system. I don't think this is going to be a game changer as...

Re: Who's Afraid of the Epson WorkForce C20590 100ppm MFP?
Thanks for the info @Jason H . That's unfortunate, however I get the aversion to ink. Looking at this product it appeared Epson had perfected it. However I don't think I could sell a copier that has a huge paper curl. I never thought it would have a page curl as there is no fuser.
Comment
Re: Who's Afraid of the Epson WorkForce C20590 100ppm MFP?
I think the part of the problem is even though the ink is dry, it has a moist feeling to it. When it drops off into the trays there is a hump (see pic) that the paper drops out on. I think that is part of the problem with the curl. The prints look good and once I lay the paper out on a desk it flattens out but in my opinion it just does not demo well with regular paper.

Re: Who's Afraid of the Epson WorkForce C20590 100ppm MFP?
interesting, I know wonder if Epson demonstrated the device with heavier paper at a few of the events I was at. I didn't see any curl. Not saying that it doesn't, but it wouldn't be the first time peeps did a "controlled" demo

Additionally, there will be more firmware released for the mid-volume, production, and desktop models in between now and the end of the year for current models. From what I understand,...

Re: What is Print and Imaging as-a-Service?
This just sounds to me like Facilities Management under a different name. Facilities Management is the practice of setting up a printing operation within a company as a service to the company. The people operating the equipment are employees of the Facilities Management company not the corporation. It is buying the apples, not the tree taken to the extreme. It's not uncommon that all postal services are packaged in as well. As far as MFP seat licensing...I don't see it ever coming to pass.

Re: What is Print and Imaging as-a-Service?
Old Glory ty for the comment. Yes, Facilities Management could be just a different spin on an old theme. MFP seat licensing would solve many issues that we have with selling the customer a traditional finance lease.

Re: What is Print and Imaging as-a-Service?
From my understanding, "per seat" billing isn't designed to overcome leasing objectives. It's designed to add additional revenue in deals through Managed IT Services, which uses per seat billing. Both products get amalgamated under a single solution with a single invoice based solely on the amount of employees that require the service. For me, the big question is who pays for the equipment? Can a dealer really support financing/purchasing a large volume of MFP's and putting them out on 1 or...

The dealers are now fighting to differentiate themselves & offer something different & this seat licensing seems to be the new buzz. I never heard of it being done in any other geographic...
