Re: Desktop Shortcut to Scanned Images via store to HDD in scanner
Its pretty strait forward. Default the scanner to Store File to HDD. At the PC create a desktop shortcut to Web Image Monitor. Have customer click on Print Job/Store File -------> Document server. They will be able to download the document. The real problem though is you are encountering a lazy IT guy. Any IT guy worth his salt will help you set up scan to folder.

It will be interesting to see what the manufacturers allow and don't allow. As of right now they are still very against e-Commerce and listing things on websites etc. I can only speak for my experience with Canon, Sharp and Brother, but they do not want things done via the web.

In 10 years there WILL be outside sales reps, and many of them will be the committed, true professionals of today. The E-Commence platform have changed our business and how we do it. For example gone are the days when you could duck into a 15 story office building and cold call. John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

Jason: Take a look at the RBS quote that posted yesterday! It states, their "best" price the first time. In essence they are teaching their people to be just "order takers". Even the Ricoh web site is no listing MSRP with lines drawn through the MSRP to indicate they are discounting. The Epson argument has been going on for years. I brought one product in as a complement product and direct print production sales fought for Epson devices as part of the portfolio. I wouldn't allow it. However, with Vellek in charge of all product marketing, a lot changed. Overall profitability on Epson to Ricoh is about 7-9%. So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

So this effort is eliminate "carbon copied" work orders for service techs? What is wrong with the print "workflow" when the software application that generates a service form cannot be configured to print two of the same item? This is not an easy "printer-centric" fix. The application needs to either carry this information to the printer as part of the job or you must have some print-based software (Planet Press/Dataworks) telling the printer what to do. This my boo boo, I asked my sales manager about this application and the reps at Sage, all stated it could be done out of the box. As to what they were doing before, they did not have the accounting package and asked for a dot matrix printer for forms, I investigated got false info and sold them an 8200N stated it would staple the two pages. I've uploaded the doc file. Also, tech support did provide some very detailed information to me via email that I just reviewed. The main difference is that they are scanning via IP which doesn't account for the possibility of the IP Address changing.
