The Epson argument has been going on for years. I brought one product in as a complement product and direct print production sales fought for Epson devices as part of the portfolio. I wouldn't allow it. However, with Vellek in charge of all product marketing, a lot changed. Overall profitability on Epson to Ricoh is about 7-9%. OMG, it's getting tougher and tougher out there, maybe none of them will stop until there are no sales people in the business any longer. We had a letter many months ago, however it did not have the paragraph in reference to "anything over 100% is now blended", and they will not "knowingly fund maintenance". Somewhat true! No new apps after July 15th. Has to be funded by July 30th. In talking with my rep they have been forced to call on IT related vendors and use their capital this way. It doesn't effect current portfolio and funding of CPC deals. It does effect upgrades as they will honor upgrade to returns and take elsewhere. I am not a fan of the government deciding which contract I should and should not enter into. I believe that business owners and decision makers are smart enough to determine which contract is best for their business needs. From the leasing company perspective, the average term of a mfp leases in most leasing companies entire portfolio range from 45-49 months.
