Re: Print Copy Tool versus Plotworks
John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

I'm from Texas, and most people down here call all soft drinks "Coke", but when I get into this debate, my simple answer is none of the above, because I just call it whatever brand it is. I.E.--Dr. Pepper, Diet Coke, Sprite, etc.

Yes, all CAD software has the ability to flatten the pdf when published. However you would be amazed at how many engineers and architect do not know how to use their own software. At least once a week we are showing one of our customers how to print with AutoCAD, Soft plan, Revit, or any of the others. Also a lot of it is out of your hands as many of these print are posted on websites to be downloaded and it is left up to the downloader to flatten the pdf.

Unless I'm missing something, this solution does not work. After the transmission fails and error report is printed, the Change/Stop soft key is no longer available. Even before the fax has completely errored out - that is before it tried three times - I don no see a retransmitt ability. ???????

Another issue with printing "large pdf's" is that PDF print streams offer no print integrity, (otherwise known as the “fire and forget” approach.) I did not get earlier if you work for a Ricoh dealership or the direct group. For the direct group this should not be too difficult as they have proprietary workflow and make ready software that claims to be JDF compliant. Things like simplex and duplex can be "injected" with a subset of JDF that is far beyond the meta data that can be added with...

I also served in the Army (but was never deployed) and am for a sensible cut in the military budget. Heck, even the Defense department is for a cut in defense spending (they self-identified $136B of cuts that congress then failed to cut). A response from a different board suggest that on the latest series of Sharp copiers, in Admin Mode, there is a new soft button that once touched erases all customer variable data and brings the copier back to default settings. All copier vendors can do this in Service Mode, so as suspected, this is not really a new feature but good Marketing.
