I'm from Texas, and most people down here call all soft drinks "Coke", but when I get into this debate, my simple answer is none of the above, because I just call it whatever brand it is. I.E.--Dr. Pepper, Diet Coke, Sprite, etc.

Re: Why is single clicking an 11×17 on a “copier” legal?
Price at your acceptable margin. If your price is paid, take the business since it already has the acceptable margin. If customer will not pay your price, walk, secure in the knowledge that taking the deal would not provided your acceptable margin. I think we are overcomplicating it. Deal XYZ on a P4P has $X of equipment margin, $Y of lease margin, and $Z of service margin at the agreed rate, regardless of whether we are billing single or double click. If $X+$Y+$Z is acceptable, move...

Re: Managed Network Services discussion
Sounds like you guys have started a completely new division. As I said earlier there is no synergy, you had to completely start from scratch except for maybe billing, the overhead is incredible and let me guess none of them work on MFP's and the sales people don't want to sell it because its a PIA for little return. Next, let me guess, (if its not already) will be a quota on MNS tied to MFP payouts. If you sell $30k MFP's with no MSN Commission rate is X% if you sell some contracts it is...

The key for Minolta Dealers, is that the CF2001, CF 1501 are designed for end user involement. All consumables can be replaced by the end user with not tech involvement. Or they dealer could choose limited end user replacement or replacement only by a technican. The key is end user replacement, just like HP! From the Mind of Minolta: The labor cost based on End User capability to replace the TFU's. Dealers need to be encouraged to allow more customer involvment. Service advantage over our...

First, your prospect might be interested in learning more but has a legitimate reason to postpone your conversation. Re: Global buysCOMDOC...yes you heard correct!
The difference there is that Ricoh was a publicly traded company. Their stock was in the can, so anyone with the cash could walk up and buy controlling interest for X (the price of the stock) times Y (total number of shares). IKON basically had no choice at that point. COMDOC, on the other had, was NOT in the can, was NOT losing money every quarter, etc. Plus, they were owned by the employees who had to vote to approve the purchase (meaning they could say no if they didn't like the $$).

Art, you are right on! soft costs are a huge factor that many companies do not look at. the question then becomes, how do you get to the point where you are finding those soft costs? frankly, purchasing agents don't care, department heads...maybe. who is it that will focus on "big picture" items? who are the innovators in a company? the out of the box thiners? And can make your finding out about everything possible? High end assessments, like Printwise/Pagetelligence, are invaluable to...

Jason...there are a number of reasons as to why we don't just move "boxes" at cost to get the service/supply dollars. From a dealership standpoint the margins on those dollars are decreasing every year and we need to look at ways to be able to get better margins on the equipment. From the standpoint of the customer there are even more reasons not to buy from companies like buyerzone and work with a true professional. When conducted properly and with the right person (CEO,CFO) then a high-end...

Re: Samsung SCX-6345n
I agree from a sales perspective, however from a service point of view it’s a nightmare. Sale has a box, it cost X amount, and they sell it for Y amount. Gave me my check and I’ll deal with it later. Service needs to learn all about the equipment in a matter of days. This is not easy when we see 3 or 5 units from a manufacturer. We live with the problems for 3 or 5 years. When there’s a problem sales wants to know why we can’t fix it or the company needs to replace it with a model from our...
