Re: Saudi-Based United Carton Industries Company Invests in Digital with EFI Nozomi Corrugated Printer

Art Post ·
Ever since I saw the name Nozomi I was curious where it came from. I found this on wikipedia Nozomi ( Japanese : のぞみ , lit. "Wish" or "Hope," and known before launch as Planet-B ) was a Mars orbiter that failed to reach Mars due to electrical failures. The mission was terminated on December 31, 2003. Art, we've got a rep that covers York / Gettysburg and he confirmed this. He said he heard it went down ~ 6 months ago and they started reaching out to clients towards the end of 2019 to let them know. Gonna be a big change as Quality had a lot of loyal clients (also were giving away service at rates like .003 & .032- > I've gotta imagine that'll change quickly)

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!

jdicarlo ·
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: Working at IKON OFFICE SLUTIONS

I almost feel this is a chain letter where you replace the name of the company at the top and it becomes a generic gripe about any company. How many IKON's have a "Copy Guy" who makes copies? ... on a separate note, I also worked for IKON and found it to be a horrible place to work. 10 years later, I feel the same way about IKON and do not feel the same about my current employer.

The earthquake and tsunami that have roiled Japan so far have not caused sizable production or supply chain problems for the Rochester area's major employers. Eastman Kodak Co. has two production facilities in Japan that produce printing plates. The Gumma facility, two hours northwest of Tokyo, sustained minor damage in the disasters "and should be able to go back in production fairly soon," said company spokesman Christopher Veronda. "We believe that any impacts to the supply chain will be...

Re: Erie businessman gets fed prison for copier fraud

There is a special place in hell for people who rip off churches. Have a church in my home town that was ripped off for about $20K by a copier company that had already gone out of business. The vendor wrote the church a 63 month lease with the service packed into the lease payment 3 months after the sherif had put a lock and chain on their doors. To make matters worse when the pastor of the church signed the lease he accidently signed in the wrong spot. When we got our hands on the actual...

The case was decided regarding a store that sold women’s clothing, that ran afoul of the clothing manufacturer’s rules. Unknown if any copier manufacturers will adopt this policy. - A group in Australia at Queensland University, is claiming that...

Just the beginning...? It has now been a little over six months since the merger of Lanier and Ricoh into Ricoh Americas Corporation. During that time, there have been many changes in our organization and we have all experienced some of the good and some of the bad that change brings. The merger of two organizations having different cultures, systems and business methods is a difficult undertaking and what we have seen since April 1 certainly confirms that fact. I am aware of how hard all of...

I'm going to guess we won't see any change in food prices since the chain that ends in a pork chop at the grocery is months long and most of that cost has already been paid.

Re: Gas Price Check

JasonR ·
For most supermarket items, you won't see a drop in price. Think about Beef. That beef was fed on $7.00 corn, delivered by trucks fueled by $4 gas, for months. The fact that gas is $1.50 now doesn't change that. The same is true for shorter chain items as well, the milk we drink is produced by cows who are still eating gains/hay/whatever that was produced during the price bubble, so it's still going to be affected. Can't expect a change on most items until at least mid 2009, and by then...

I do not know on that model CD but scsi in general is a chain of devices and the last device is terminated. There are two types of scsi devices. One has internal termination (only in no out connection on device) and the other has an in and a out and the out has to be terminated if it is the last device in the chain. At least thats how I understand it to be. I am not a scsi expert, but have used these devices in the past. Hope that helps. JG

Re: Can a Digital Copier Scan to Dropbox?

GrantW ·
Great Post Art. Xerox have a DropBox app available for their new ConnectKey devices but the user has to buy a scanpack which cover X number of scans and has a 12 month shelf-life. The advantages of having it on the MFD as an App is that any user (e.g. at a college) can log in to their DropBox account and print or scan to / from their own account securely. We've been doing the same as you and circumventing the charge or need for an app by pointing the scan to a DropBox folder on a desktop.

This announcement is HUGE! For a wide format buff like me, this gives Canon the ability to compete with HP PageWide. It will probably be a few years before we see any print devices, but we all know time goes so quickly. In addition we'll probably see A3 ink MFP's also. Just boggles my mind that the likes of KIP, nor Ricoh has committed to Memjet's waterfall print head yet

Canon needs to make serious improvements to the technology, The Oce Velocity, and the Xerox IJP 2000 were both Memjet large format machines and both were epic failures. Why would KIP get involved with Memjet? The 800 and 900 series machines are doing great against the HP Pagewide. If Canon can implement there printhead technology into the Memjet Printhead we may have something.
