Although I am 60% on board with your move to A4 strategy, most of the rest of the stuff you are posting is "knocking it out of the park"! I would like to see a poll. As a business owner, during COVID-19 would you prefer? 1). No lease payments for 90 days 2). 1/2 price lease payments for one year The auto industry is pushing no payments for 90 days but I think business owners are more concerned about cash flow for the next year. I think the correct strategy is to offer as part of your...

Re: Post-Virus We Must Defeat The Zombie Companies!

SalesServiceGuy ·
I have to dial back the 1/2 price payments for one year. Most SMB business will only get lease approved for a six month Step lease. So for those customers wanting to preserve cash flow, a six month 1/2 price lease cost followed by a 60 month regular cost lease would be the best offer. On a $5k lease this would add approx $139.00 to the total finance costs spread over 66 months ($2.00 month).

I think it is obvious what you do with people who don't want to work. It is just as obvious what to do with people who DO want to work! Incentives can be a great way to move a product or idea, but dis-incentives are more personal and can be very disruptive for that individual (ie: income tax, sales activity micromanagement). I am a firm believer that good salespeople like to behave as if they run their own business. When governing bodies try to enforce restrictions, penalties, and/or lessen...

Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY

I think that many used copiers available for resale still have the original dealer sticker on them. This would be the first step a lawyer would take to attach liability. It seems odd that either 3/4 or 4/4 of the copiers that the CBS reporter picked were Toshiba. Balanced reporting would suggest he should have bought a mix of machines. It also seems very long odds that 3/4 copiers the data expert examined had large amounts of personal data on them. The report seems a little contrived to me.

The worst one I saw was $180k BOP on a $15k copier. He had been "step leased" several times. The previous Office Manager refused to discuss copier leases with anyone. Eventually he was replaced and the new Office Manager could not believe the situation he was in. Desperate copier vendors like to promote step leases because the big copy Block gives them a large extra chunk of cash up front. The large amounts of paper promised are usually more than the customer can use and another source of...

I make it a policy to go over the T&C's of the simpliest lease agreement with the customer so that they understand full well. Can't tell you how many customers who were sold by former reps had now idea what the terms of their lease. To some it was a big surprise. Honesty and plain language is the best policy.

If you find yourself getting blown away by a competitive quote being so much cheaper, a Step Lease might be in play. These type of compettive players know you are the incumbent in an account and well thought of. The only way they can get at your account is to come in at half your price with a large copy block and free paper included. You are immediately put on the defensive because the DM thinks they see such a good deal. The only way you can get back on top of this account, is to use the...

Depending on the Lease vendor, they may provide cleverly designed Lease documents, with two payments streams on the document. The bad copier sales person fills in the agreed Payment #1 amount with the customer and leaves the Payment #2 line blank. The customer does not even see Payment #2 because it is blank. The customner signs the lease. Back at the office, this same sales person fills in Payment #2 with the Step Lease amount, and submits it to the Leasing company. Working with a less than...

One of the biggest victims of Step Leases are Non Profit agencies and charities. The people there turn over frequently, are not lease savy and beleive the salesperson when he says you can upgrade the lease before the paymnents increase. These poorly qualified Decision Makers, do not fully understand the consequences of the back end obligation they have just taken on. Business that are lease savy with experience are much less likely to fall to this kind of lease activity.

JasonR, you are on a roll. We could then mix the "bad" leases in a little at a time with pools of "good" leases, buy insurance on them, and sell those. We'd try not to think about the fact that those would be further mixed with more "bad" and "good" leases... To make this REALLY roll though, we'd need Congress to step up. It really depends on the user requirements and volume. If they need more robust paper-handling capabilities or advanced finishing and are above 5,000 per month in total volume, I step them up to the 30ppm model. If they run a lower volume with a basic configuration, I let them know that the lower-end model will meet their needs & handle their volume.

Quietly Ricoh has launched a new start up and site for it's eWriter solution. It's an imprtant step for at least one of he manufacturers to identify the loss of clicks, thus the eWriter solution model is based on SAS (Software as a Service).

Clarify! Make each prospect feel that they are truly being listened to and understood. Use a clarifier when responding to what you've heard during the conversation. Rephrase in your own words what they had said to ensure that you not only heard, but also understood them. Then, confirm the next course of action. Examples: "What I'm hearing you say is..." "Tell me more about that." "What do you see as the next step?"
