Toshiba halts operations at chip factory after earthquake

Toshiba Corp. said Monday it has suspended operations at a plant in Oita, southern Japan, that produces semiconductors used in cars and industrial machinery, after a strong earthquake hit the region over the weekend. Toshiba said in a statement that some equipment was damaged and that the company was still analyzing the impact on production.
