I can't confirm these specifics, but the Global dealer down here stopped selling Sharp and Konica Minolta a few years ago, so I assumed this happened awhile back.

Re: NEED HELP QUICK --- SINKING SHIP

JasonR ·
Here's part of the confusion, this is posted in the wrong forum. This forum is for Industry wide announcements. If you had it in the forum for Ricoh issues, that'd have told us more about what type of issue you were working on. RATIO is the company that makes the controllers/software for the Ricoh wide-format, so not an issue in this case.

Re: Canon Forums

Art Post (Guest) ·
Yeah, it's fine to do that here, this forum is dedicated to Canon and is secured for only Canon dealers, direct and other support people from Canon. So, if you need to ask Canon questions this is the forum. If you are a dual line dealer you would also have access to the manufacturers forums as well. Hope this helps! Art

I still have to tweak it, add links, add permissions and to create a better flow. I'll be off for two weeks soon and will put a lot time and run both sites to see how the page views are. I also run my blog and an end users forum. I was thinking I can tie them all into one site and thus would only have to maintain the traditional...

Re: Email from Canon P4P'er "Ricoh Direct Pricing"

JLS ·
Art, I work in a Ricoh Direct (Lanier legacy) office located in an area where there are three local RFG competitors in our market. We have explicit instructions to disengage (turn around and walk out) if it's an IKON account or one belonging to the two other RFG dealers. Except for IKON, the dealers can compete against our MIFs and do so with no qualms. They kill us on price, too, which seems to be a different situation than is occurring in other parts of the country. As an example, a...

Thanx for the input, most of us were taught the same way as you, although back in the old days were used features on the copier to figure out how a customer could save time with certain copy jobs. I'm sure different parts of the country depending upon Market area use different pricing. It's a mess but we all have to live with it (RFG), however all of us as sales people should try to get more dollars out of our systems and solutions because we have the best hardware systems and solutions out...

Re: Toshiba Launches Social Business Network Designed to Connect Sales, Service and Corpo

I would not be surprised if your p4p hotel helped influence this new Toshiba EXCHANGE 'social' website. I believe that the p4p mission should be to provide the same platform within the Office Equipment Industry, yet be a forum for all people regardless of manufacturer (Toshiba, Ricoh, Canon, Konica Minolta, SHARP) affiliation.

Re: Toshiba Launches Social Business Network Designed to Connect Sales, Service and Corpo

GMAN ·
Old Glory does indeed make a valid point, in that Ricoh Dealers will need the p4p hotel (RFG Message Board) to share ideas on how to survive as a Ricoh Dealer with their new focus on IKON and future support of IKON. It is going to be a battle out there during the next year and a forum to report on RFG / IKON practices, competitive situations, shake-ups, and new product offerings will be critical.

You only need to post in one Forum. The 20mb spool file you see, that is at the customer's site with their file? If you make your own file around the same size, does it print as slow? I have seen 1 inch x 1 inch .jpg's turn out to be 11x17 files squeezed down fit where the customer wants it in powerpoint. If it is just one document, you can try eliminating some graphics to see if a particular one is causing a problem. Print half the file, if the print speed is half of what it was before,...

Re: @ Remote is Here!!

JasonR ·
Why is this topic in the AS/400 forum? Now that I'm certified on @remote I can answer more questions. Ricoh reccomends it be placed in accounts with 10 or more machines. The really strange thing here is that the @remote device captures the data (including customer name, Model of machine, Serial Number and all useage data), sends it to Ricoh Japan, and then allows the dealer to access it.

Re: c450 and microsoft publisher

Art Post (Guest) ·
(from Shaja) Neal, I'm assuming the problem is the subset stapling with the mail merge? The C450 doesn't know how to separate each newsletter after the merge creates one big document? If that's the case, two ideas: 1 - PrintShop Mail, which will allow you to break the job after X number of pages for stapling and finishing. PSM requires PostScript, so be sure to use the PS driver and not the PCL driver. This may be the better solution because of how PrintShop Mail handles the ripping of files...

Art, thanks for your reply. A lot of GREAT points in there. I literally spent this weekend relaxing (much needed) and thinking about what you said. Here is what I've been thinking about: 12-18 months ago, I could win competitive deals quite easily with $2000 GP. Now, I'm losing with $1500 in a 45-ppm colour box. That means American pricing has flooded the rest of North America, where $1000-$1500 in GP in a commercial street deal seems to be the norm. To increase my closing ratio in...

Re: Global Scan NX Server 32 Question

VinceMcHugh ·
Art, I never did a lot with Global Scan when I was at Ricoh Business Systems \ Boston but I have done some work with OCR and large format. It is not an easy task. The amount of data that has to be processed, especially since most of the Wide Format is drawings and not text. If you can set a specific zone to OCR maybe it would work better. But at least the last time I looked at it, it didn't turn out very successful. Again, I didn't use GlobalScan, so maybe it will turn out better for you.

Re: Global Scan NX Server 32 Question

Hi Art, The only piece of software that I can think can do this is eCopy ShareScan. The back end is completely customizable, so you should be able to configure every scan to auto rotate before getting dumped into the watch folder. Most manufacturers are eCopy authorized, so I would talk to your dealer account manager to confirm this.
