Re: Saudi-Based United Carton Industries Company Invests in Digital with EFI Nozomi Corrugated Printer
Ever since I saw the name Nozomi I was curious where it came from. I found this on wikipedia Nozomi ( Japanese : のぞみ , lit. "Wish" or "Hope," and known before launch as Planet-B ) was a Mars orbiter that failed to reach Mars due to electrical failures. The mission was terminated on December 31, 2003. Re: Will outside Sales Rep's go away?
@Monte I hope/think that even though buyers will research online that they will still want some interaction with a salesperson. If in fact the manufacturers allow the sale of high end MFP's online then the dealers will have to change a lot of how they do business. My hope though is that it does not come down to this. I buy a lot online and my wife grocery shops online and has them delivered to the house, BUT I don't look at most things like groceries. I want to go talk to my insurance agent.

Re: Quality Digital Office Technology
Art, we've got a rep that covers York / Gettysburg and he confirmed this. He said he heard it went down ~ 6 months ago and they started reaching out to clients towards the end of 2019 to let them know. Gonna be a big change as Quality had a lot of loyal clients (also were giving away service at rates like .003 & .032- > I've gotta imagine that'll change quickly)

Re: Question: Xerox technicians
I can confirm a new offering. Xerox has a new program for signing on new dealers and not putting them in the Global or Agent bucket. These dealers can then be trained to use thier own technicians. I will check with my source about them using Xerox techs.

Re: Does anyone sell Tabbing Machines?
Buskro manufactures tabbing equipment that is compliant with multiple Postal System requirements. It is important to understand the parameters of the mailing (where, postal discount type, weight, dimensions and contents) all of these have bearing in some instances. Better to qualify these potential solutions directly via MF relationship or an agent.

Re: Xerox Authorized Sales Agent
I feel like a lot of the historical advantages of being an Agent (lineup range, leads, etc) have been undermined by moves by Global and the Xerox dealer division in recent years. Not a bad business model too if you can do it, don't want to deal with a service division/overhead, and reach Xerox's quotas. You can also combine it with Xerox's dealer programs to go beyond some of the limitations they put on Agents.

I've been a Xerox Authorized Agent Owner in Canada for 11 years. It is a fairly challenging business model however Xerox Canada on the whole makes a pretty good partner. Glad to discuss in person 905-309-1012 x2105

Re: Xerox 1632 Question
I have not personally seen the output, but from what I have heard it is more of a business color quality. I had a Xerox agent try to position it as a solution in a print for pay against a 6513 and the customer did not see the Xerox as a viable competitor. The DC 12 and 3535 are the only two products that I believe fit the creative color category.

Re: Backorders! Why?
Jim - I only get this report when I scream loud enough to our corporate office about backorders (like I've been screaming about the 240W). I will make available every time I see one. I think...our purchasing agent gets this info from our East Region Allocations people at Ricoh - I would think they would provide this info to anybody on an allocations list for backorders?

Anybody have feedback on this yet? I have a real estate agent that was looking at the HP 3700dn ... the Ricoh 4000dn is awesome as far as specs go, kicks the HP by speed, supplies, paper weight ... but is it a good machine?

Anyway, I got the Real Estate Agent to go with the Ricoh CL4000dn. What a monster! Works great though! Those starter toner cartridges sure don't have much in them. For the size of the tube, they look so empty! .... By the way. This Real Estate Agent was planning on buying HP through some sort of Real Estate Marketing thing from HP, it included FREE HP Real Estate Marketing Assistant software, that really had their attention ... they were so excited about the free software but missed the...

Re: Can a Digital Copier Scan to Dropbox?
Great Post Art. Xerox have a DropBox app available for their new ConnectKey devices but the user has to buy a scanpack which cover X number of scans and has a 12 month shelf-life. The advantages of having it on the MFD as an App is that any user (e.g. at a college) can log in to their DropBox account and print or scan to / from their own account securely. We've been doing the same as you and circumventing the charge or need for an app by pointing the scan to a DropBox folder on a desktop.

Re: hp news!
I'm taking the pre-req's for the edgeline now. It's a product that has a niche market. The paper feeds from the tray up a verticle transport across the top of the machine, down the other side to a decurler. The decurler bends the paper so it will fit the drum better. A bonding agent first sprayed onto the paper before the ink is applied. It next goes to a dryer and back out to the decurler to be duplexed or sent to the finisher. It's a variable speed printer. Heavy ink coverage may result in...

Re: Lease Maestro Checks into Print4Pay Hotel
Hello Garrett - The dreaded "Evergreen" clause. This clause has caused many problems customer and dealers over the years. Depending on your situation, it may be tough for you to get the customer out of the contract early without some significant work on yours and the customers part. Based on your comment of "win the business", I am assuming that you are not the original dealer that put the customer into the lease with the an "Evergreen" renewal clause. If this is the case, there is a good...

Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement
This announcement is HUGE! For a wide format buff like me, this gives Canon the ability to compete with HP PageWide. It will probably be a few years before we see any print devices, but we all know time goes so quickly. In addition we'll probably see A3 ink MFP's also. Just boggles my mind that the likes of KIP, nor Ricoh has committed to Memjet's waterfall print head yet

Art, I agree. The first thing I thought of when I saw this was this may be Canon's answer to HP's PageWide A3s as well as Wide Format. Vince

Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement
Canon needs to make serious improvements to the technology, The Oce Velocity, and the Xerox IJP 2000 were both Memjet large format machines and both were epic failures. Why would KIP get involved with Memjet? The 800 and 900 series machines are doing great against the HP Pagewide. If Canon can implement there printhead technology into the Memjet Printhead we may have something.

Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement
Toshiba Tec has been manufacturing inkjet print heads for industry for many years. Japanese manufacturers that make and provide copiers worldwide are facing stagnation in the demand for their products, mainly due to the market saturation in advanced countries and a reduction in profits from consumables. As a result, they have lost their investment incentive for toner-based product development. While they are aggressively investing in and developing products for production and industrial...

Re: Cost per copy on Xerox units
@ Color1 Is this a Xerox agent or Authorized Dealer? If it is an agent then I don't see how they are doing it since Xerox sets the pricing and handles all of the maintenance. They would never do a all b&w page included deal under the Xerox mother ship. I have seen this with a local competitor (dealer) in my area. They simply play the odds and add the projected monthly black and white clicks into the lease. The whole unlimited "free black and white" sounds so good until you start...

The Proxy app works with by taking HP only information and broadcasting that information over SNMP from the workstation the printer is connected to. My real concern is from Page 21 and 22 of this...
