Hi Everyone, Thanks for your posts. Every year or two we see new, low cost competitors that come out of the woodwork for a little while. We are selling against these guys the same as you fight your low cost competitors. There are a few obvious detriments that seem to have stood the test of time. The revenue model can not possibly be profitable for 80% of your customers. Ridiculously low is exactly that, ridiculous and unsustainable. $500 worth of technical support will be used up mighty...

Given that he tried to register with false info, I'm concerned. This is a business site, not a personal site where limiting the amount of personal information shared is an appropriate privacy measure. Ricoh Covergence is next week, would love to hear everyones take on Espe and the others, of course with a dealer meeting they'll sign the praises of the dealer, however there may be a slip up or two and would like to hear those. Can anyone take pictures while they are there for us? I can then post on the boards here for all of us.

Art Post (Guest) ·
Geesh, almost sounds like a 3-5 program. I've done step leases here in the states, and on the ones I've done the leasing company makes us clearly state to the customer level of payment progression is and the lessee even has to sign off on it.

Depending on the Lease vendor, they may provide cleverly designed Lease documents, with two payments streams on the document. The bad copier sales person fills in the agreed Payment #1 amount with the customer and leaves the Payment #2 line blank. The customer does not even see Payment #2 because it is blank. The customner signs the lease. Back at the office, this same sales person fills in Payment #2 with the Step Lease amount, and submits it to the Leasing company. Working with a less than...

the vendor's risk should be proportional to the customer's committment. If they will sign a contingent order then you treat them like a customer. Though, if the answer to this question is based on a cost justificaiton, it would depend upon how streamlined your dealership is... If your salemen are doing the networking then you are gambling with more money than if your dealership has a tech taking care of the fine tuning.

Re: First Look New Ricoh MPC2801_3301

txeagle24 ·
We tried to order a Lanier LD533c (MP C3300) and were told that that the product has been discontinued. Has anyone seen pricing on the new models and Lanier model #'s for this series? The order was placed 2 weeks ago, and Ricoh just now told us that we can't get the product. As you can imagine, the customer is getting antsy, but we can't even re-sign the lease for the new model since Ricoh says info will be released this Friday.

Revenue for the quarter rose 12% to 1.068 trillion yen from 954.1 billion yen. "There's no sign of any slowdown in the sales of our new products," said Executive Vice President Toshizo Tanaka. For the whole of 2010, Canon's net profit jumped 87% to 246.60 billion yen from 131.65 billion yen in 2009, while operating profit rose 79% to 387.55 billion yen from 217.06 billion yen. I don't know about in Canada, but they are doing OK in the US.

Braxtoq, I think that the larger point is that the GUI is irrelevant. We (who have been in the industry for a while) can remember selling 75 and 85 ppm machines for $40 - $50k. Now they are talking about 75 and 85 ppm A4 machines for under $10k. The question is how you make up the revenue, and that has to be on services - and Sharp is not well positioned due to their thin direct side. Also, since they are print copy oriented (I don't think that they really make money on scanning), they are...

The NECS is not good and a sign of the times. Years ago if you wanted to start a new dealership or go into business for your self you were able to go to the likes, of Adler Royal, Hitaachi, Towa, Copystar, Selex and probably a few others where you could get "Authorized" to service and support the systems, without the oressure of high quotas. As long as lease companies feel that we don't care about anything but low rates, they will continue to lower their rate with the intent of getting their profits back in new ways. Point - Counterpoint. Let me say first of all that I am the one for our company that would decide this and I choose not to pad the rates. I feel that leasing has enough advantages to the dealership without making more money on the transaction. That having been said, I also have no problem with dealerships that do. Does the dealership that pads also pay for shipping the equipment back? I'm just saying that sometimes a pad or mark-up is earmarked to cover an expense somewhere else. Some lease...
