There are a lot more of those than there used to be. That's why our industry has to change the way they add prospects to the pipeline. They are going to have to actually start marketing for a change (spend dollars on marketing instead of salespeople) & do things to position themselves as a resource companies will contact when they need something versus salespeople throwing a million lines in the water hoping they get a bite. It's got to be all about generating in-bound leads and...

So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

I know this is 3 weeks old but the reason that you can not send through Comcast e-mail server is because they are securing the server. Look in the customers e-mail settings in Outlook to get what you need. It is under Authentication and not all MFD's are capable of this. POP Server: Requires SSL SMTP Server: Requires POP before SMTP, port 465, and authentication of POP before SMTP or just authentication of just he name and password. Hope this helps.

Tokyoamsterdam: Japan's Canon plans to buy Dutch copier and printer maker Oce for 730 million euros ($1.09 billion) as it tries to return to growth after the global downturn and fight rival Ricoh. Copier and digital camera maker Canon and Oce said in a joint statement on Monday that Canon intends to offer 8.60 euros per share, or 730 million euros, for Oce's outstanding shares. Canon's offer follows little over a year after Japan's Ricoh, the world''s largest copier maker, bought US office...

Thanks Art. This is very good info for all. Also the garage door opener is a hot commodity. Remember a thief does not need a GPS in order to find you. How many people have a some mail or a document that has their home address on it. We don't think of these things. Also how many have the garage door opener out in the open for all to see. We all do it for convenience but it a very dangerous. Remember to use common sense! Lets all be safe out there.

With Riso making a push in offering Print-to-Mail solutions, perhaps it would make sense for Pitney Bowes or Neopost/Hasler to acquire them. Pitney hasn't come up for air since they acquired Print, Inc. several years ago in order to gain valuable service & supply contracts with no obligation to sell hardware. Acquiring Riso could be the same type of acquisition, & I believe the Riso platform is the type of low-cost, high-speed solution that could complement PB's automated mailing...

The speed is definitely impressive. I too would like to know how this clocks in for cost of consumables and the ink's scuff resistance- especially for mailing applications. I would have to see some samples to judge the print quality, but there are many companies who aren't too concerned about that when it comes to statement printing and certain direct mail campaigns. Either way, I am sure there is a large enough market for it to be a successful product.

Thanks for that Art. A little research shows that Mail to Print is set up like internet faxing (like that helps alot) Which would explain why no 3rd party app is required. So why does HotSpot need the subscription? Anybody know much about this feature?

Are there any other limitation with mail2print other than if you send multiple attachments only the first attachement would be printed and the fact that mail2print does not support hi compression pdf. I know there's the cost of the PSIII when working with the other mfp's to enable mail2print. But what's the cost to use the Hot Spot?

Firts of all what type of email server are we talking about? I don't think the 1060 has the ability to authenticate (sort of like having a user name and a password on the email server). There are workarounds though. There is a setting within MS Exchange that allows you to set it where the IP Address of the 1060 is recognized and allowed to pass (see attached). We have had other situations where we had to use a freeware program called ArgoSoft to relay the emails to the mail server. If you...

If you need the speed of the 1045 for the copy side than you're stuck with Global or SR Pro, if you can slow things up a bit, and maybe sell the idea of a little color to make up for the speed differential than try selling the new 1232 with a print/scan option. This will scan to e-mail just like the 1060. We got a 1224 and 1232 in the showroom this week and they seem pretty solid.

Re: Scan to Email

Nope, just the e-mail interface built in to the 1060/75 print/scan option. One thing, if they are using some sort of internal e-mail server than you need to use that IP address as the SMTP (provided it is an SMTP server too) if not, then you are going to need to get the DNS and SMTP stuff directly from their ISP. If their entire network is behind some kind of internal software firewall, you will need to configure it to allow the 1060 to get outside of the firewall

POP3 accounts are for recieving e-mail. If Scan Router PRO tries to recieve e-mail to deliver to a fax or something like that it will need POP3 information. Similar to the NIC fax unit on the 5510NF. If you don't need it to do POP3 recieveing and can turn it off, do that. The other option is to set up a "ghost" e-mail account to send the POP information to. SOME ISP's require POP authentication prior to allowing you to send SMTP e-mail. Some require POP and SMTP authentication and others...

Only way to do it is either using Scan Router Pro, OR you can scan to file and email from the PC. You have to go with a 1224/1232 or a 1060-75 or get in to a 3900NF or 5510NF to do actual scan to e-mail ad-hoc on the fly. Thanks Graham
